Donald Sohl, vice president of sales and marketing for Cleveland-based White Dove Mattress, a King Koil licensee, died Nov. 3. He was 58. In a statement, White Dove President Bruce Goodman said: “Don has been a part of the White Dove family for over 19 years and we will sorely miss him, his wisdom, knowledge, sense of humor and his tireless commitment to brighten the lives of everyone. Don’s battle with cancer has only reminded us of the type of individual he has always been. He never quit, never gave in, never asked for any sympathy, struggled through daunting medical challenges, but never let any of it affect his work or his commitment to his co-workers and customers.” Owen Shoemaker, president and chief operating officer of Willowbrook, Illinois-based King Koil said: “A true gentleman and careful, thoughtful businessman, Don was friendly and easy to talk to about the challenges of the marketplace, the brand and the work we all do in seeking success. The most meaningful success is measured in the balance you find in what you love to do and what you must do—and how well you do those things. Don was a very successful man.” Sohl was a Cleveland native who attended the East Elyria Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, enjoyed music and Cleveland sports teams, and was both loving and well-loved, according to an obituary written by his family. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Becky; his mother Katherine; brother David; daughters Kassie Zack, Kate Loesch and Rachel Petrus; three sons-in-law; and eight grandchildren. Source Via

In molti hanno chiesto a Max il significato del brano e lui cosi ha spiegato in varie interviste:“Ho lavorato molto con mio fratello e la canzone è uscita in un giorno in cui stavamo scrivendo e hanno suonato alla porta. Erano due testimoni di Geova, gli abbiamo aperto e abbiamo ascoltato quello che avevano da dirci. E abbiamo immaginato come sarebbe andata se nessuno avesse mai aperto la porta a questi ragazzi e che a un certo punto avessero cominciato a parlare davanti ad una porta chiusa. Questo rappresenta la chiusura che c’è fra il modo laico e religioso e anche fra le varie religioni. Non credere in nulla è altrettanto difficile ed impegnativo quanto credere”.E continua spiegando anche perché ha deciso di cambiare la parte del testo che diceva “Porto Dio”: “Non volevo che l’assonanza fosse confusa o male interpreta e per il palco del Festival ho preferito non rischiare. Sono stato ben attento a non offendere nessuno e a non volere offendere nessuno”.La canzone è certamente un invito al dialogo tra religioni e fedi diverse ma anche, più in generale, un invito alla convivenza nel rispetto delle diversità che animano e fanno parte del nostro mondo.girato dal regista Lorenzo Vignolo, lo stesso Max interpreta un predicatore quasi surreale che insieme al co-protagonista del video (il figlio Samuel) si aggira per le strade della periferia di Roma a bordo di una Fiat 600 Multipla. Tutto si svolge in un contesto apparentemente abbandonato, quasi decadente.Il predicatore-Max si ferma davanti ad un portone bussando e “predicando” davanti alla porta chiusa fino a che dall’interno il nonno della famiglia si alza ad aprire. L’apertura del portone è anche una sorta di simbolica apertura delle menti degli abitanti della casa che alla fine vengono talmente rallegrati e convinti del messaggio portato dal “predicatore” che scendono in strada felici a ballare.Insomma nelle parole, nella musica ricercata ma non troppo “aulica”, nelle immagini, un vero e proprio inno al dialogo senza nascondersi dentro le case, dentro quelle mura che a volte sappiamo e vogliamo costruire alte per proteggerci non si sa bene da chi e cosa. O forse dalla paura degli altri, del confronto, del sentirsi inadeguati, diversi e quindi deboli.Se l’ispirazione del brano è data dall’incontro con alcuni testimoni di Geova, in realtà il significato appare di più ampio respiro. La paura del confronto verso altre religioni, altre culture ed idee politiche, altri orientamenti sessuali. Più semplicemente altre scelte di vita. Tutto viene accompagnato da un ritmo musicale brioso, leggero ma mai scanzonato, che entra in testa e nel cuore.
