Like the Doctor said of the man who had been hit by a Concrete Mixing Truck ...  "He's as well as can be expected."
A year ago my Elders severely castigated me for my comments on the Archive, and to do the best I could, I left The Archive, intending to stay away forever if they would be placated, but I asked them for a list of things I needed to do to gain their approval
... perhaps something written on an index card ... as I refuse to be interrogated in "Room 101" anymore on fishing expeditions, and they flat REFUSED to give me anything in writing. 
It's been a year since I left, more or less, and our meetings changed to Saturdays, so Today I endured another public talk .. something about "Youth" ... and the WT Study ... and this is what I learned ..... The Worship of Jehovah God requires a LOT of endurance .... SUPERHUMAN endurance ... like one might need when stuck in the 7th Grade for a half century.
Since after a year or so, I have not received ANY credit whatsoever for offering to do anything they would tell me do, including cut off my Freedom of Speech ... I gave up .... AND HERE I AM!

Εξαιτίας του γεγονότος ότι οι Μάρτυρες του Ιεχωβά, οι οποίοι στη Γερμανία ήταν τότε γνωστοί με το όνομα Ειλικρινείς Σπουδαστές της Γραφής (Έρνστε Μπιμπελφόρσερ, στα γερμανικά Ernste Bibelforscher), δεν υποστήριζαν πολιτικά το Ναζιστικό κόμμα και αρνούνταν να υπηρετήσουν στο στρατό, κατά τη διάρκεια του Ολοκαυτώματος θέτονταν υπό κράτηση, στέλνονταν σε στρατόπεδα συγκέντρωσης ή φυλακίζονταν. Σε αντίθεση με τους Εβραίους και τους Τσιγγάνους που διώκονταν για φυλετικούς λόγους, οι περίπου 25.000 Μάρτυρες του Ιεχωβά διώκονταν λόγω των θρησκευτικών τους πεποιθήσεων.
Η Ναζιστική κυβέρνηση έδωσε στους κρατούμενους Μάρτυρες του Ιεχωβά την επιλογή να αποκηρύξουν την πίστη τους ως «εσφαλμένες διδασκαλίες», να υποταχθούν στην κρατική εξουσία και να υπηρετήσουν στο στρατό ώστε να αφεθούν ελεύθεροι. Στη Ναζιστική περίοδο, περίπου 10.000 Μάρτυρες, κυρίως γερμανικής καταγωγής, φυλακίστηκαν σε στρατόπεδα συγκέντρωσης όπου είχαν στα ρούχα τους το διακριτικό μωβ τρίγωνο και υπολογίζεται ότι περίπου 2.500 έως 5.000 Μάρτυρες του Ιεχωβά πέθαναν σε στρατόπεδα ή φυλακές. Περισσότεροι από 200 άντρες δικάστηκαν από το Γερμανικό Πολεμικό Δικαστήριο και εκτελέστηκαν επειδή αρνήθηκαν τη στρατιωτική υπηρεσία. Μεταξύ αυτών περιλαμβάνονται και Μάρτυρες του Ιεχωβά που προέρχονταν από την Αυστρία, την Πολωνία, την Τσεχοσλοβακία, την Ολλανδία, τη Γαλλία και από άλλες χώρες.

Για την Ελλάδα του εμφυλίου ο δημοσιογράφος Κώστας Τσαρούχας στο βιβλίο του «Αντιρρησίες Συνείδησης» (Ελληνικά Γράμματα, 1996) γράφει: «Η πρώτη καταδίκη σε θάνατο επιβλήθηκε στις 11-2-1949. Και ο αντιρρησίας συνείδησης Ιωάννης Τσούκαρης εκτελέστηκε με τουφεκισμό στη Λάρισα. Στις 2 Μαρτίου 1949 ακολούθησε και δεύτερη θανατική καταδίκη. Ο αντιρρησίας Γεώργιος Ορφανίδης εκτελέστηκε με τουφεκισμό στο Ναύπλιο»
