Community rallies around house fire family

THE BILOELA community has rallied around the young family who lost their house and family pets in a house fire at the weekend.
Family friend Kirrilly McCabe set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family just hours after the home was destroyed.
"I just thought about how we would cope in that situation - they literally were in the car and just had the clothes on their back," she said.
"They're also both not the type to ask for help. I wasn't sure how (they) would react, but I've spoken to the mother since and she's just extremely grateful that someone has sort of taken the reins."
Mrs McCabe said the community response was instant and overwhelming.
"The community's been really generous - not just through the GoFundMe but we've also had a drop off point and people have been dropping stuff off all week.
"Some of the online donations have come from people that we know through a mutual facebook group - one was in Victoria and one was from New South Wales.
"We've also gotten heaps of other donations from around town and vouchers from local businesses. One business even set up a money tin on the counter."
Physical donations were so numerous that Mrs McCabe had to post an update on Tuesday night letting people know that the family had reached capacity and needed to spend some time sorting through what they have been given.
The mother of the family, who said they wish to remain anonymous, told the Central Telegraph that members of the local Jehovah's Witnesses church had paid for a hotel for the first two nights before her partner's work was able to step in and arrange emergency accommodation.
"The support's been overwhelming, I just want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the community that's been there to support us through this rough time," she said.
"Kirrilly has been amazing. Our online and real life communities have sort of come together."
She said she and her partner were trying not to dwell on the fire by keeping themselves busy with day-to-day tasks and setting things up at their new place.
"The kids are too young to really know what's going on - (my son) doesn't really understand why we can't go back," she said.
"We're just going through donations and dealing with insurance at the moment."
Organisers of upcoming pre-loved fashion markets at the PCYC have been in contact with the family about fundraising in the coming months so that support will continue "when the dust has settled."
Donations to the GoFundMe appeal can be made here.

My daughter got baptized today at our 2016 “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!” regional convention. I’d like to say that, as a single parent of 5, raising children can be most challenging…especially in the truth. However, Jehovah has always been there with us every step of the way as we keep the Kingdom first and focus on remaining loyal to Him…He has always been loyal and true and I can’t think of a day where we needed something and He did not provide. This young lady has had the goal of being baptized and regular pioneering since she was 9! Today she reach the goal of baptism. My heart rejoices to see how good Jehovah is. My hope is that all parents out there, single or married, will trust Jehovah with their whole heart and see His hand in their family…even when things get tough with the kids, as they will at times. In the end, with Jehovah by our side, we can say that it was all worth it. I am blessed and I hope this will encourage my brothers and sisters worldwide! Photo shared by @jahismygod

The Librarian reacted to TheWorldNewsOrg in Social Media Companies Promise to Take Down Hate Speech Within the Next 24 Hours
Not long after the French Jewish group UEFJ sued Twitter, Facebook and Google in Paris for how they monitor hate speech on the Internet, the social media platforms are vowing to tackle hate speech within the next 24 hours.
Over the course of about six weeks in April and May, the anti-discrimination watchdog flagged what they described as undoubtedly racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic hate speech, 90 percent of which was reportedly found on Twitter and YouTube. The majority of that hate speech, the UEFJ said, remained online for an average of 15 days following requests for removal.

Beyond national laws blocking hate speech, there is a need to make sure such commentary from social media users is “expeditiously reviewed by online intermediaries and social media platforms, upon receipt of a valid notification, in an appropriate time-frame,” Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc., Google, Microsoft Corp. and the European Commission said Tuesday in a joint press release.
The new policy standards surface as Europe comes to terms with the deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels and Paris by the Islamic State, which is known for its prolific use of social media to spread its radical message. The social media companies said it remains a “challenge” to find the right balance between freedom of expression and hate speech in the self-generated content.
“We remain committed to letting the tweets flow,” Karen White, Twitter’s head of public policy for Europe, said in a statement. “However, there is a clear distinction between freedom of expression and conduct that incites violence and hate.”
Facebook executives offered a similar statement, adding that there is “no place” for hate speech on the popular platform.
“With a global community of 1.6 billion people we work hard to balance giving people the power to express themselves whilst ensuring we provide a respectful environment,” Monika Bickert, head of global policy management for Facebook, said. “There’s no place for hate speech on Facebook.”

How do 4 publishers located 500kms from their host congregation reach 16,000 people in their remote assignment at Norway House and Cross Lake Cree Nations in Manitoba, Canada? Besides door to door and public witnessing we also use radio! We have been summarizing the Bible Teach book one chapter per week via the local radio stations. Next weekend we will be on chapter 10. Nearly everyday we are meeting people who say they are listening in every weekend. Several studies have been started as a result. Last week we met a couple who requested a Bible study via jw.org. Why? Because they too had been listening. We pray that Jehovah continue to bless these efforts. Photo shared by @the.emilsons

The outline posted online shows that there is a reference to the 07/15 1985 WT, page 19, para 14. This says:
To be fair this is not a completely new tack. The example in the talk is taken from the WT 85 7/15 page19 para14
In the video of the talk available online the speaker uses this almost verbatim.
