  1. "God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones."—Jas. 4:6. ???????????????????? Cultivate Genuine Humility ????? “The humble people you will save.”—2 SAMUEL 22:28. With humility, many have fulfilled their Christian duties, putting the interests of others ahead of their own. For example, it takes humility for a Christian father to set aside time from his own pursuits to prepare and conduct an effective Bible study with his children. Humility also helps children to honor and be obedient to their parents, who are imperfect. (Ephesians 6:1-4) Wives who have unbelieving husbands often face humbling situations as they try to win over their mates by “chaste conduct together with deep respect.” (1 Peter 3:1, 2) ???????????????????? All of GodÂ’s human servants are imperfect. (James 3:2) At times, differences or misunderstandings may develop between two Christians. One may have a valid cause for complaint against another. Usually, such situations can be solved by applying this counsel: “Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave you, so do you also.” (Colossians 3:13) ???????????????????? Understanding the many benefits that humility brings should move us to cultivate and maintain this precious quality. To that end, what wonderful examples we have in Jehovah God and Jesus Christ! Never forget the divine assurance: “The result of humility and the fear of Jehovah is riches and glory and life.”—Proverbs 22:4. ???????????????????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2005766?q=james+4%3A6&p=par

  4. The World’s Biggest Flower - The Smell is NOT Beautiful! ??????? 1. First, consider its size. The rafflesia can grow to about three feet (1 m) in diameter—the size of a bus tire—and weigh some 24 pounds (11 kg).* The flower has five thick, pinkish-brown fleshy petals covered with pale wartlike spots. The petals converge in a large hollow that resembles a pot and that can hold up to 13 pints (6 liters) of water. ??????? 2. Second, give thought to its odor. According to one candid description, the rafflesia smells like a “buffalo carcass in an advanced state of decomposition,” earning it the well-deserved alternative names corpse flower and stinking corpse lily.* Carrion-feeding flies are the flowersÂ’ main pollinators because they find the stench irresistible. ??????? The rafflesia flower has no stem, leaves, or roots and grows as a parasite of certain vines on the jungle floor. When a new rafflesia bud breaks through the bark of a host vine, the bud takes about ten months to balloon, often growing to the size of a large cabbage. Then, in a process that takes several hours, the fleshy lobes unfold, revealing their full glory. Inside the central opening are a number of spiky protrusions called processes. Their function is still little understood, although some researchers think that the protrusions may serve to distribute heat and thus intensify the stench. ??????? The flowerÂ’s odd beauty is short-lived, though. After just a few days, the bloom dies and begins to rot, leaving behind a slimy black mass. ??????? The Rafflesia arnoldii is rare and endangered. Why? Male and female flowers must bloom close to each other to cross-pollinate, yet most buds never reach maturity or bloom. The reason for this is that many buds are harvested to be used in traditional medicine or to be eaten as a delicacy. This has greatly reduced the number of plants growing in the wild. Ongoing destruction of the flowerÂ’s tropical rain-forest habitat poses another serious threat. ??????? Seeing a rafflesia is a unique experience. Its size is impressive. Its smell is memorable, to say the least. And its form and color are striking. Of course, the worldÂ’s largest flower is just one of our CreatorÂ’s countless astonishing works. Says Psalm 104:24: “How many your works are, O Jehovah! All of them in wisdom you have made. The earth is full of your productions.” ??????? q=corpse+flower&p=parThe parasitic corpse flower displays the largest single flower of any flowering pant. (© Ettore Balocchi) ??????? Corpse flower and vine host Just as human relationships sometimes turn toxic, some relationships in nature are also parasitic — benefitting one species while the other is harmed. ??????? Named for its putrefying smell, the parasitic corpse flower defies floral stereotypes. With no roots, stems or even chlorophyll of its own, the species burrows into vines and tree roots, stealing their nutrients. Eventually the corpse flower will burst out of its host and display the largest single flower of any flowering plant. ??????? As the voice of Flower in CIÂ’s Nature Is Speaking film series, Lupita NyongÂ’o says “People underestimate the power of a pretty little flower.” If they came across a blooming corpse flower, they might think differently. - ??????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102012289
  5. How to Be More Patient! ???????? The things or situations that make you impatient have been called impatience triggers. What triggers your impatience? Are there specific individuals who try your patience? ???????? Perhaps your mate, parents, or children are the principal impatience triggers in your life. Or are your triggers usually time related? For instance, are you likely to lose your patience when you have to wait for others or when you are running late? Do you lose your patience when you are tired, hungry, sleepy, or under some type of stress? Do you more often lose your patience at home or at work?  ???????? First of all, in real life, things do not always happen as fast as we wish. Accept the fact that time moves at the speed of time and not at the speed of your expectations. That is patience. ??????? Second, remember that you cannot always control your circumstances. Wise King Solomon wrote: “The fastest runner does not always win the race; the strongest army does not always win the battle; the wisest man does not always get the food he earns; the smartest man does not always get the wealth; and an educated person does not always get the praise he deserves. When the time comes, bad things happen to everyone! A person never knows what will happen to him next.”—Ecclesiastes 9:11, 12, Holy Bible—Easy-to-Read Version. ???????? Instead of losing your patience over circumstances that are beyond your control, try to identify things that you can control. To illustrate, rather than getting angry over a delayed bus or train, try to find another way to get to your destination. Even walking might be better than giving in to impatience and anger. ???????? If waiting is the only option, use the time to do something productive, such as doing some meaningful reading or writing down your plans for future activities. The reality of life is that it does little good to worry over things that you cannot control. The Bible aptly says: “None of you can add any time to your life by worrying about it.”—Luke 12:25, Holy Bible—Easy-to-Read Version. Lesson for today. (Phil 4:6, 7) ???????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102012444?q=patience&p=par#h=11
  6. What type of Government or King do you want to Rule over you? ~ One for Justice? ~ One Forever by means of Righteous? ~ Only One Government left ~ Learn how to be part of that Government today! ~ ????? 6 “The rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6,7) Revised 2013 7 "To the increase of his rulership And to peace, there will be no end, On the throne of David and on his kingdom, In order to establish it firmly and to sustain it, Through justice and righteousness, From now on and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this." ????? A Sure Foundation for Hope Jesus Christ told his followers: “You must pray . . . this way: ‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.’” (Matthew 6:9, 10) That heavenly Kingdom—a government in the hands of Jesus Christ—is GodÂ’s means of expressing His rightful sovereignty over the earth.—Psalm 2:7-12; Daniel 7:13, 14 ????? The many facets of fear that affect every aspect of life today are a clear indication that divine intervention is needed. Happily, that intervention is near! Now enthroned by God as Messianic King, Jesus Christ is entrusted with authority to vindicate JehovahÂ’s sovereignty and sanctify His name. (Matthew 28:18) ????? Soon, Kingdom rule will be directed to the earth to do away with all causes of fear and anxiety. Isaiah 9:6 cites credentials that show Jesus to be a worthy Ruler who can relieve us of our fears. For instance, he is called “Eternal Father,” “Wonderful Counselor,” and “Prince of Peace.” ????? Consider the endearing expression “Eternal Father.” As such, Jesus has the power and authority—as well as the desire—to give obedient humans the prospect of eternal life on earth by the merit of his ransom sacrifice. This means that they will finally be released from sin and imperfection inherited from the sinful first man, Adam. (Matthew 20:28; Romans 5:12; 6:23) Christ will also apply his God-given authority to bring back to life many who have died.—John 11:25, 26 ????? When on earth, Jesus proved to be the “Wonderful Counselor.” Because of his knowledge of GodÂ’s Word and his extraordinary understanding of human nature, Jesus knew how to solve the problems of daily life. Since his enthronement in heaven, Christ continues to be the “Wonderful Counselor,” serving as the principal figure in JehovahÂ’s channel of communication to mankind. JesusÂ’ counsel, recorded in the Bible, is always wise and flawless. Knowing and believing this can lead you to a life free of uncertainty and paralyzing fear. ????? Isaiah 9:6 also identifies Jesus as the “Prince of Peace.” In that capacity, Christ will soon use his power to remove all inequality—political, social, and economic. How? By bringing mankind under the one peaceful rule of the Messianic Kingdom.—Daniel 2:44 ????? Under Kingdom rule, lasting peace will prevail earth wide. Why can you be sure of this? The reason is revealed at Isaiah 11:9, where we read: “They [the KingdomÂ’s subjects] will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea.” ????? Eventually, every human on earth will have accurate knowledge of God and will be obedient to him. Does that prospect warm your heart? If it does, do not delay in taking in the precious “knowledge of Jehovah.” ????? Learn more at: ww.jw.org OR Ask for a Bible study free of charge. https://www.jw.org/en/free-bible-study/

  9. "I got much joy and comfort over your love."—Philem. 7. ????? Early Christians received much support by encouraging one another and building one another up in love. ????? (1 Cor. 16:17, 18) "May YOU also keep submitting yourselves to persons of that kind and to everyone cooperating and laboring.17 But I rejoice over the presence* of Steph?a·nas and For·tu·na?tus and A·cha?i·cus, because they have made up for YOUR not being here. 18 For they have refreshed my spirit and YOURS. Therefore recognize men of that sort." ????? (Eph. 4:11, 12, 16) "And he gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelizers, some as shepherds and teachers, 12 with a view to the readjustment of the holy ones, for ministerial work, for the building up of the body of the Christ. From him all the body, by being harmoniously joined together and being made to cooperate through every joint that gives what is needed, according to the functioning of each respective member in due measure, makes for the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love." When Titus went to Corinth to minister to the brothers there, Paul wrote back to the congregation, saying: “His spirit has been refreshed by all of you.” (2 Cor. 7:13) ????? Likewise today, JehovahÂ’s Witnesses find genuine refreshment through upbuilding Christian fellowship. You know from experience that congregation meetings are a source of great joy. There we find an “interchange of encouragement . . . each one through the otherÂ’s faith.” (Rom. 1:12) ????? Our Christian brothers and sisters are not mere passing acquaintances, superficial associates with whom we casually meet now and again. They are true friends, people we love and respect. ????? We receive much joy and comfort by regularly assembling with them at our meetings. Learn about Jehovah's Witnesses at:JW.ORG
  10. Was It Designed? ??? "However, ask, please, the animals, and they will instruct you; Also the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you. Or give consideration to the earth, and it will instruct you; And the fish of the sea will declare it to you. Who among all these does not know That the hand of Jehovah has done this?" (Job 12:7-9) The Wing of the Dragonfly Certain dragonflies can glide for 30 seconds without any significant loss in altitude. Their secret? An aerodynamic wing that is unlike any manufactured by the aircraft industry! Consider: The microthin wing of the dragonfly is corrugated, with pleats that prevent it from bending. Scientists have found that the pleats also give the dragonfly greater lift while gliding. “This is because air circulates in the cavities between pleats, creating areas of very low drag that aid the lift-generating airflow across the wing,” says New Scientist magazine. After studying the wing of the dragonfly, aerospace engineer Abel Vargas and his colleagues concluded that “biologically inspired wings are very relevant in the design of micro-aerial vehicles.” Armed with a camera or other equipment, such palm-size flying robots have a number of practical uses, from obtaining information from disaster locations to monitoring pollution levels. What do you think? Did the microthin, pleated wing of the dragonfly come about by chance? Or was it designed? The dragonfly microdrone (microaerial vehicle) weighs 120 milligrams (.004 ounce), is six centimeters (2.4 inches) wide, and has wafer-thin silicon wings that flap when powered by electricity https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102010290?q=dragonflies&p=par#h=4 Tap on link for Video – Enjoy! 1 Picture Regular Also IMG_2436.mp4
  11. Is It Possible to Build Faith in a Creator? ????????? “WHEN I thought about the possibility of a Creator, it made me angry to think that someone might have the power to prevent human suffering but was not prepared to use it!” Thus said one former atheist who lost family members in the Holocaust. He was hardly alone in feeling as he did. ????????? When faced with atrocities, many find it difficult to believe in God, or they seek solace in the idea that God does not exist. What are the major factors that cause some not to believe? Would humankind be better off, as some think, without God or religion? Is it possible for an atheist to build faith in a loving Creator? ????????? ReligionÂ’s Failure Ironically, a leading cause of atheism is religion. Historian Alister McGrath explains: “What propels people toward atheism is above all a sense of revulsion against the excesses and failures of organized religion.” Religion is often seen as a factor behind wars and violence. An atheist and philosopher named Michel Onfray muses on how it is possible that the same religious book could inspire two types of men, one “aspiring to saintliness,” the other “carrying out an act of inhuman cruelty”—terrorism. ????????? Better Off Without God? Not surprisingly, then, many people view religion as an obstacle to human progress and peace. Some have even asked themselves if humankind would be better off without God and religion. However, would such a wholesale rejection of religious thinking bring its own problems? ????????? Further Causes of Disbelief Many are taught that evolution is an established fact. Anila, for example, was educated in atheistic Albania. “In school, we were taught that to believe in God was naive and backward,” she relates. “I regularly learned wonderful things about plants and organic life, but I attributed everything to evolution, since this made us look as if we were in harmony with scientific thinking.” She admits today that the “proofs that were given had to be accepted blindly.” ????????? A sense of bitterness may pose an obstacle to some. JehovahÂ’s Witnesses often encounter this attitude when they go from door to door, offering hope from the Bible. Bertil, mentioned earlier, received such a visit from a young Witness. Bertil remembers saying to himself: ‘Poor fanatic. You have come to the wrong place!Â’ He says: “I let him in and began to vent my indignation concerning God, the Bible, and religion.” ????????? MankindÂ’s Creator and You Religious hypocrisy, such atheistic teachings as evolution, and the prevalence of wickedness have caused many to doubt or even deny the existence of a Creator. ????????? However, if you allow it to, the Bible can provide satisfying answers to your questions. It also reveals GodÂ’s thoughts, “thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) For Bernadette, whose child was born disabled and who doubted the existence of a Creator, that hope became like a comforting dressing on the wounds of her personal suffering. ????????? The BibleÂ’s explanation of GodÂ’s permission of suffering has touched the mind and heart of many former atheists. By taking the time to find the BibleÂ’s answer to such vital questions, you too may come to be convinced that there is a God who is, in fact, “not far off from each one of us.”—Acts 17:27 ????????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2009724?q=build+faith+in+a+creator&p=par
  12. "[Jonah] kept proclaiming and saying: “Only forty days more, and Nineveh will be overthrown.”—Jonah 3:4. ????? Is it reasonable to believe that the Ninevites would repent in sackcloth at the warning of Jonah? ????? Commissioned a second time to go to Nineveh, he undertook the long journey there. “Finally Jonah started to enter into the city the walking distance of one day, and he kept proclaiming and saying: ‘Only forty days more, and Nineveh will be overthrown.’” (Jon 3:1-4) Whether Jonah knew Assyrian or was miraculously endowed with ability to speak that language is not revealed in the Bible. He may even have spoken Hebrew, his proclamation later being interpreted by one(s) knowing the language. If spoken in Hebrew, JonahÂ’s words could have aroused great curiosity, with many wondering just what this stranger was saying. ????? Some critics think it incredible that the Ninevites, including the king, responded to JonahÂ’s preaching. (Jon 3:5-9) In this regard the remarks of commentator C. F. Keil are of interest: “The powerful impression made upon the Ninevites by JonahÂ’s preaching, so that the whole city repented in sackcloth and ashes, is quite intelligible, if we simply bear in mind the great susceptibility of Oriental races to emotion, the awe of one Supreme Being which is peculiar to all the heathen religions of Asia, and the great esteem in which soothsaying and oracles were held in Assyria from the very earliest times . . . ; and if we also take into calculation the circumstance that the appearance of a foreigner, who, without any conceivable personal interest, and with the most fearless boldness, disclosed to the great royal city its godless ways, and announced its destruction within a very short period with the confidence so characteristic of the God-sent prophets, could not fail to make a powerful impression upon the minds of the people, which would be all the stronger if the report of the miraculous working of the prophets of Israel had penetrated to Nineveh.”—Commentary on the Old Testament, 1973, Vol. X, Jonah 3:9, pp. 407, 408. ????? After 40 days had passed and still nothing had happened to Nineveh, Jonah was highly displeased that Jehovah had not brought calamity upon the city. He even prayed for God to take away his life. But Jehovah answered Jonah with the question: “Have you rightly become hot with anger?” (Jon 3:10–4:4) The prophet subsequently left the city and, later, erected a booth for himself. There, to the E of Nineveh, Jonah watched to see what would befall the city.—Jon 4:5. ????? When a bottle-gourd plant miraculously grew to provide shade for Jonah, the prophet was very pleased. But his rejoicing was short-lived. The next day, early in the morning, a worm injured the plant, causing it to dry up. Deprived of its shade, Jonah was subjected to a parching east wind and the hot sun beating down upon his head. Again, he asked to die.—Jon 4:6-8. ?????? By means of this bottle-gourd plant Jonah was taught a lesson in mercy. He felt sorry for the bottle-gourd plant, probably wondering why it had to die. Yet Jonah had neither planted nor cared for it. On the other hand, being the Creator and Sustainer of life, Jehovah had much more reason to feel sorry for Nineveh. The value of its inhabitants and that of the cattle was far greater than that of one bottle-gourd plant. Therefore, Jehovah asked Jonah: “For my part, ought I not to feel sorry for Nineveh the great city, in which there exist more than one hundred and twenty thousand men who do not at all know the difference between their right hand and their left, besides many domestic animals?” (Jon 4:9-11) That Jonah must have got the point is indicated by the candid portrayal of his own experiences. ?????? It may be that sometime later Jonah met at least one of the persons who had been aboard the ship from Joppa, possibly at the temple in Jerusalem, and learned from him about the vows made by the mariners after the storm abated.—Jon 1:16 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200002503?q=jonah+3%3A4&p=par In the Time of Jonah. JehovahÂ’s prophet Jonah, in the ninth century B.C.E., declared impending doom for Nineveh because of the wickedness of its inhabitants. However, since the people, including the king, repented, Jehovah spared the city. (Jon 1:1, 2; 3:2, 5-10) At that time Nineveh was a great city, “with a walking distance of three days.” (Jon 3:3) Its population numbered more than 120,000 men. (Jon 4:11) This Biblical description is not controverted by archaeological evidence. ????? Its Destruction Fulfills Prophecy. Although repenting at the preaching of Jonah (Mt 12:41; Lu 11:30, 32), the Ninevites relapsed and again took to their wicked ways. It was some years after Assyrian King Sennacherib had been murdered at Nineveh in the house of his god Nisroch (2Ki 19:36, 37; Isa 37:37, 38) that Nahum (1:1; 2:8–3:19) and Zephaniah (2:13-15) foretold the destruction of that wicked city. ????? Their prophecies were fulfilled when the combined forces of Nabopolassar the king of Babylon and of Cyaxares the Mede besieged and captured Nineveh. The city was evidently subjected to burning, for many Assyrian reliefs show damage or stain from fire and accompanying smoke. With reference to Nineveh, a Babylonian chronicle reports: “They carried off the vast booty of the city and the temple (and) [turned] the city into a ruin heap.” (Assyrian and Babylonian Chronicles, by A. Grayson, 1975, p. 94; PICTURE, Vol. 1, p. 958) To this day Nineveh is a desolate waste, and in the spring, flocks graze near or atop the mound of Kuyunjik. ????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200003261
  13. Make the calling and choosing of you sure.—2 Pet. 1:10. ?????? Like the priests and Levites of old, anointed ones today view their service as a privilege. (Num. 18:20) ?????? (Hebrews 5:13) "For when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could not swear by anyone greater, he swore by himself,14 saying: “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.”15 So after Abraham had shown patience, he obtained this promise." The woman is Jehovah's witness, whose religious beliefs prohibit reciting the promise, said his lawyer Michael Goldberg. He added that the defence counsel during the closing arguments made a point of pointing out that "some of us do the oath of allegiance". "we knew that it was a case of difficult causation that would give rise to the credibility of the applicant and would worry about how it would be perceived because she is a Jehovah's witness", he said by e-mail. "we spent most of the see, asking the members of the jury for their feelings towards Jehovah's witnesses, and as expected, many people had negative feelings towards them". "our client could not make a commitment because of his religious beliefs and was the only one in the courtroom who did not participate", said Goldberg, who tried the case with fried Rogers Goldberg Partner Eric Rogers. " Unfortunately, that left the jury with the feeling that our client was " Not American ". http://www.dailyreportonline.com/id=1202794812661/Motion-Jehovahs-Witness-Refusal-to-Recite-Pledge-of-Allegiance-Biased-Jurors
