Hezekiah praying in front of the Temple

Hezekiah was greatly distressed by the Assyrian threat recorded in the letters sent him but he continued to trust in Jehovah and appealed to him at the temple, also sending some of the head ones of the people to the prophet Isaiah. IsaiahÂ’s reply, from Jehovah, was that Sennacherib would hear a report and would return to his own land, where eventually he would be slain. (2Ki 19:1-7; Isa 37:1-7)

During the night Jehovah sent his angel, who destroyed 185,000 of the cream of Sennacherib’s troops, “every valiant, mighty man and leader and chief in the camp of the king of Assyria, so that he went back with shame of face to his own land.”

  2. It is written: “the Abrahamic covenant went into effect in 1943 B.C.E., when 75-year-old Abraham left Haran and crossed the Euphrates River.”

However, Abraham had already left his home in Ur out of obedience to Jehovah. Why did it not start at that time? The Bible tells us Abraham postponed the arduous trip out of consideration for his father’s poor health and remain in Haran until his father’s death.

Many Christians today likewise have the privilege of caring for aging or sick parents, some even having to make an adjustment in order to do so.

When that is necessary, such ones can be assured that their loving sacrifices are “acceptable in God’s sight.”—1 Timothy 5:4. Lev. 19:32. -

  4. It can take “a million or more cloud drops” to make one small raindrop. ?????

Can You Catch Just “One” Drop?

    ?

It can take “a million or more cloud drops” to make one small raindrop. No one seems to have a totally satisfying answer as to what transforms these minute floating cloud droplets into the one billion tons or so of water that falls to the earth every minute of every day. Do the tiny cloud droplets simply merge to form larger raindrops? Sometimes they do. This likely accounts for raindrop formation in places such as the Tropics. But it does not begin to explain “the puzzle of raindrop formation” in places such as the Atlantic Coast of Ireland.

    ????????

Here the tiny cloud droplets do not simply coalesce. By mechanisms not completely understood, they form tiny ice crystals. These group together to become “one of nature’s finest masterpieces”—the snowflake.

As snowflakes grow larger and heavier, they overcome rising air currents and begin to fall to earth. If it is cold enough, they fall as snow—billions of them in an average snow shower. But if they fall through a layer of warm air, the snowflakes melt and become raindrops. Snow is thus not frozen rain. Rather, most rain, in temperate regions at least, begins as snow, which then melts as it falls to earth.

    ????????

So after a journey that might well have been thousands of miles long, involving complicated processes not yet fully understood, the rain returns. Granted, it may interfere from time to time with your personal plans and pursuits. But this remarkable arrangement results in our having a never-ending water supply. Yes, rain is truly a blessing. So maybe the next time you feel rain against your face, you will be a little more inclined to appreciate this gift from God.

  5. 2018 will be a great year, full of milestones. Jehovah always releases his spiritual food at the appropriate time, perhaps it is a reason why we need to be brave.

With the speed that has passed this year 2017, we have to be vigilant and clinging, things could develop faster than we can imagine!

    - Zephaniah wrote: Ó‘Keep yourselves in expectation of me,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘till the day of my rising up to the booty, for my judicial decision is . . . to pour out upon them my denunciation, all my burning anger.’” (Zephaniah 3:8)  - Bible Speaks

  6. Be Watchful—Satan Wants to Devour You!

    ??????????

Do you watch full Satan wants to devour you!,“Be watchful! Your adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour someone.”—1 PETER 5:8.

    ??????????

Faithful angels use their power for good, but Satan uses his power for evil. And Satan surely has great power and influence. The Bible refers to him as “the ruler of this world” and “the god of this system of things.” (John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4)

    ??????????

Satan even has “the means to cause death.” (Hebrews 2:14) This does not mean that he kills all people directly. So, what does it mean? First, this world is filled with Satan’s hateful and violent attitude. Second, because Eve believed Satan’s lie and Adam disobeyed God, all humans sin and die. (Romans 5:12)

    ??????????

Satan is, as Jesus called him, “a murderer.” (John 8:44) He really is a powerful enemy. When we oppose Satan, we also oppose all those who support him and who rebel against God’s rule. That includes a large group of other rebellious angels, who are called demons. (Revelation 12:3, 4)

    ??????????

Many times they have shown that they are much stronger than humans, causing great suffering to them. (Matthew 8:28-32; Mark 5:1-5) Never forget how powerful the demons and their ruler really are. (Matthew 9:34)

    ??????????

Without JehovahÂ’s help, we could never win our fight against Satan. The only way that Satan can turn people against our loving God, Jehovah, is by deceiving them. (1 John 4:8)

    ??????????

Satan deceives people so that they are not “conscious of their spiritual need,” that is, they do not realize that they need a relationship with God. (Matthew 5:3) The Devil has “blinded the minds of the unbelievers” so that they cannot see the truth about Jehovah.—2 Corinthians 4:4.

    ??????????

To be watchful: To be alert to the lies that Satan uses to try to trick us. For example, Satan wants us to believe that we do not live in the last days and that Jehovah does not love us. - Bible Speaks -

    Husbands—Recognize Christ’s Headship

“The head of every man is the Christ.”—1 CORINTHIANS 11:3.

    How to Face Marital Challenges

How should husbands dwell with their wives?

In todayÂ’s troubled world, husbands especially need to imitate JesusÂ’ example of patience, love, and firmness in upholding righteous principles. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

With regard to the model Jesus left, we read in the Bible: “You husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with [your wives] according to knowledge.” (1 Peter 3:7)

Yes, husbands need to face marital challenges in a knowledgeable manner, just as Jesus faced difficulties. He suffered greater trials than has any other human, but he was aware that Satan, his demons, and this evil world were responsible for them. (John 14:30; Ephesians 6:12)

Jesus was never surprised by trials, so neither should marriage mates be surprised when they experience “tribulation in their flesh.” The Bible warns that those who marry can expect to have such tribulation.—1 Corinthians 7:28.

Husbands, the Bible says, should dwell with their wives “according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one.” (1 Peter 3:7)

Rather than harshly dominating his wife, as the Bible foretold that men would commonly do, a husband who wins GodÂ’s approval will honor her. (Genesis 3:16)

He will want to treat her as a prized possession, never using his greater physical strength to hurt her. Instead, he will consider her feelings, always treating her with respect and dignity. -

  8. "Your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah."—Ex. 16:8.

    ?????

We should not use the imperfections of those who take the lead among us today as an excuse to murmur against them or to ignore their authority. - Bible Speaks -

    ‘Keep Free From Murmurings’

“Keep doing all things free from murmurings.”—PHILIPPIANS 2:14.

    ?????

The Hebrew word meaning ‘to murmur, grumble, complain, or growl’ is used in the Bible in connection with events during Israel’s 40 years in the wilderness.

    ?????

On occasion, the Israelites were discontented with their lot in life and expressed this by murmuring. For example, just a few weeks after their deliverance from slavery in Egypt, “the entire assembly of the sons of Israel began to murmur against Moses and Aaron.”

    ?????

The Israelites complained about food, saying: “If only we had died by Jehovah’s hand in the land of Egypt while we were sitting by the pots of meat, while we were eating bread to satisfaction, because you have brought us out into this wilderness to put this whole congregation to death by famine.”—Exodus 16:1-3.

    ?????

Most of the Scriptural examples we have considered show that murmuring caused much damage among GodÂ’s people in the past. Therefore, we do well to think seriously about the corrosive influence it could have today. An illustration might help. Many types of metal have a natural tendency to rust. If early signs of rust are ignored, metal can rust to the point that it can no longer serve its purpose. Countless automobiles are scrapped, not because of mechanical failure, but because the metal is so rusted that the vehicles are unsafe. How can we apply this illustration to murmuring?

    ?????

Let us try to see things from Jehovah’s point of view, not just our own. “Make me know your own ways, O Jehovah; teach me your own paths,” sang the psalmist David. (Psalm 25:4)

    ?????

If we have a valid reason for complaint, this has not escaped Jehovah’s notice. He could correct the matter immediately. So why does he at times allow adversity to continue? This could be in order to help us develop fine qualities, such as patience, endurance, faith, and long-suffering.—James 1:2-4.

The New English Bible renders Psalm 96:1: “Sing to the LORD, all men on earth.” The Contemporary English Version reads: “Everyone on this earth, sing praises to the LORD.” This accords with the understanding that by “new earth” Isaiah was referring to God’s people in their land.

  13. Our Children—A Precious Inheritance!

    ????????????

“Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; the fruitage of the belly is a reward.”—PSALM 127:3.

    An Inheritance and a Reward

An inheritance is like a gift. Parents often work long and hard to leave their children an inheritance. It may consist of money, property, or perhaps some treasured possession. In any case, it is evidence of a parent’s love.

The Bible says that God has given parents their children as an inheritance. They are a loving gift from him. If you are a parent, would you say that your actions show that you view your little ones as a gift that the Creator of the universe has entrusted to you?

Jehovah’s purpose in granting this gift was to have the earth populated with the descendants of Adam and Eve. (Genesis 1:27, 28; Isaiah 45:18) Jehovah did not individually create every human, as he did the millions of angels. (Psalm 104:4; Revelation 4:11)

Instead, God chose to create humans with the ability to produce children who would resemble their parents in identifiable ways. What a marvelous privilege it is for a mother and father to bring forth and care for such a new person! As parents, do you thank Jehovah for making it possible for you to enjoy this precious inheritance?

  14. HOW TO HARNESS YOUR HABITS
    3 Take a Long-Range View ?

There is a popular notion that it takes 21 days to cement a new habit. In reality, though, research shows that it can take some people less time—and others a lot more—to make significant changes. Should that discourage you?

Well, think of this scenario: Imagine that you want to build a habit of exercising three times a week.

The first week, you meet your goal.
The second week, you miss a day.
The third week, you are back on track.
The fourth week, you barely exercise once.
The fifth week, you reach your goal again, and from that point forward, you meet it each week.

    ?

It took five weeks to solidify your new habit. That may seem like a long time, but once you reach your goal, you will be glad you have cultivated a new good habit.

    ?

BIBLE PRINCIPLE: “The righteous one may fall seven times, and he will get up again.”—Proverbs 24:16.

    ?

The Bible encourages a long-range view. What counts in the end is, not how many times we fall, but how many times we get up again.

    ?

What counts in the end is, not how many times we fall, but how many times we get up again

    WHAT YOU CAN DO

    ?

Do not conclude that a relapse is a permanent failure. Expect to face some setbacks as you work toward your goal.
Focus on the times when things went right. For example, if you are trying to improve the way you communicate with your children, ask yourself: ‘When was the last time I felt like yelling at my children, but didn’t? What did I do instead? How can I repeat that?’ Such questions can help you to reinforce your successes rather than dwell on your setbacks.

  15. Gaining the Victory Over Human Weakness

    ????

    ???????
“The minding of the flesh means death.”—ROMANS 8:6.

When Paul wrote to Christians living in Corinth—a city known for its moral depravity—he offered a realistic warning against temptation and the power of sin. He said: “Let him that thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall. No temptation has taken you except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for you to be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:12, 13)

    ???????

All of us—young and old, male and female—encounter many temptations in school, at work, or elsewhere. Let us, therefore, examine Paul’s words and see what meaning they have for us.

    ???????

What comfort we derive from Paul’s words: “No temptation has taken you except what is common to men”! (1 Corinthians 10:13) The apostle Peter wrote: “Take your stand against [the Devil], solid in the faith, knowing that the same things in the way of sufferings are being accomplished in the entire association of your brothers in the world.” (1 Peter 5:9)

    ???????

Yes, others have faced similar temptations and have successfully resisted them with God’s help, and so can we.

    ???????

One way that Jehovah assists us is by answering our prayers for his help in coping with temptation. Jesus Christ taught us to pray: “Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.” (Matthew 6:13)

    ???????

In response to such heartfelt prayer, Jehovah will not abandon us to temptation; he will deliver us from Satan and his crafty acts. (Ephesians 6:11, footnote)

    ???????

We should ask God to help us recognize temptations and have the strength to resist them. If we implore him not to allow us to fail when we are tempted, he will help us so that we are not overreached by Satan, “the wicked one.”

  16. JEHOVAH PROTECTS HIS FRIENDS

    ??????

The Bible says that Jehovah is looking for ways “to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

    ??????

At Psalm 32:8, Jehovah promises his friends: “I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go. I will give you advice with my eye upon you.” A powerful enemy wants to stop us from being God’s friends. But Jehovah wants to protect us. (Read Psalm 55:22.)

    ??????

As friends of Jehovah, we serve him with all our heart. We are loyal to him even under difficult circumstances. And we have the same confidence that the psalmist had. He wrote about Jehovah: “Because he is at my right hand, I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 16:8; 63:8)
