CHAIRMAN OF STATE DUMA COMMITTEE LINKS SUPREME COURT DECISION TO LIQUIDATE JEHOVAH'S WITNESS'ES WITH "PROTECTION OF BELIEVERS' RIGHTS"
    Portal-Credo.Ru, 21 April 2017

The Russian State Duma will "examine" the decision of the Russian Supreme Court in the case of the Jehovah's Witnesses. The legal precedent will allow the development of new laws for the protection of believers' rights, the chairman of the State Duma Committee for Development of Civil Society and Affairs of Public and Religious Associations, Sergei Gavrilov, told Izvestia on 20 April.

"This is a kind of legal precedent, although we do not have case law, but it is important for us to examine details of the case so that in our time we can adopt a decision about the protection of believers' rights. We adopted a number of amendments in the anti-extremism legislation. If you recall, the Russian parliament adopted an amendment linked to the restriction of illegal evangelism. Therefore it is important for us the examine this case, because it is possible that in the near future we will have to use it in our legislation," Gavrilov said.

In the deputy's opinion, there are in Russia now many religious organizations whose activity is called into question. "All organizations that exist in our country, with the exception of traditional confessions, should be investigated in order to protect the interests of traditional morality, traditional Russian values, establishment of the family, care for neighbors, and love for the fatherland. In my view, very many organizations today do not comply with this criterion," Gavrilov declared.

On 20 April, the Russian Supreme Court ruled the Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in the RF to be an extremist organization and banned the its activity itself and that of its "structural subdivisions" on the territory of the country. (tr. by PDS, posted 21 April 2017)

ANYTHING IS STILL POSSIBLE SINCE WE ARE NOT AT THAT POINT YET. WHEN GOG MAKES HIS ATTACK IT IS ACTUALLY AT THE END OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION. AND ALOT OF THINGS CAN HAPPEN IN THE MEAN TIME SINCE THE BEGINNING HAS NOT EVEN STARTED YET.
BUT IT IS OF INTEREST THAT A "CHARACTER" IS CURRENTLY ACTING LIKE THE "KING OF THE NORTH" WOULD ACT ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES.. OF COURSE JEHOVAH WILL REVEAL IT IN DUE TIME AND THAT REVELATION WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE BY ME. LOL

ACTUALLY IF YOU READ CAREFULLY EZEKIEL AND DANIEL AND COMPARE THE "EXACT WORDING" OF THE WATCHTOWER ARTICLE AND THE BROADACAST TALK ON THE SUBJECT IT APPEARS A MORE PRECISE DEFINITION WOULD BE THIS:
GOG aka KING OF THE NORTH = LEADER OF THE COALITION
LAND OF MAGOG = COALITION OF NATIONS that follow gog's lead
THUS GOG OF MAGOG IS A COALITION OF NATIONS WITH A PARTICULAR NATION ACTING AS ITS LEADER THE KING OF THE NORTH {although we cannot be dogmatic on that quite yet}. AS THE PROPHECY UNDERGOES FULFILLMENT A MORE PRECISE AND ACCURATE DETERMINATION CAN BE REVEALED THROUGH JEHOVAH'S ORGANIZATION.
IT IS OF CURRENT INTEREST THAT THE LEADER OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY IN RUSSIA HAS STATED THAT THE POLITICAL SITUATION IS RIPE IN RUSSIA [BECAUSE OF POLITICAL CORRUPTION AS NOTED WITH THE RECENT PROTESTS AND NOW BANNING OF A RELIGION] FOR THE EMERGENCE OF A "FURER" THAT IS A HORRIBLE DICTATORIAL TYRANT [LIKE HITLER WAS] THAT COULD BE THE FUTURE LEADER OF RUSSIA.
MY PERSONAL THOUGHT HOWEVER IS IN ORDER FOR A CRY OF "PEACE AND SECURITY" THERE WOULD HAVE TO BE SOME "OUTSTANDING" DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE PEOPLE WANT IT. SUCH AS A TERRORIST OR A NATION-STATE USING SOME WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION [PERHAPS EVEN NUCLEAR] ON CIVILIANS THAT WOULD OUTRAGE THE ENTIRE WORLD COMMUNITY TO GO TO AND STRENGTHEN THE UNITED NATIONS TO ACT ON THE THREAT.  SINCE THAT THREAT IS "BABYLON THE GREAT" THEN IT WOULD HAVE A RELIGIOUS FACTOR.  UNLESS THE U.N. IS STRENGTHEN FIRST AND THEN ACTS TO ELIMINATE ANOTHER THREAT = BABYLON THE GREAT BECAUSE OF RELIGIOUS "EXTREMISM".
INTERESTINGLY AS A HISTORIAN I HAVE NOTED THAT IN THE FIRST CENTURY JOSEPHUS MADE NOTE THAT THE ATTACK ON JERUSALEM WAS STARTED BECAUSE OF THE RELIGIOUS "ZEALOTS" WHO FLED THERE THINKING IT WAS A PLACE OF SANCTUARY TO THEM. THE ROMANS NEVER ACTUALLY WANTED TO DESTROY THE TEMPLE THEY WERE AFTER THE RELIGIOUS "EXTREMIST" [AKA TERRORIST] WHO HAD USED THE TEMPLE [RELIGION] AS A PROTECTION. TERRORIST TODAY SUCH AS "ISIS" AND OTHERS ARE ALSO USING "RELIGION" AS A BASES FOR THERE ACTIONS USING IT AS A  PROTECTIVE ELEMENT. BUT THAT PROTECTION IS MISPLACED AS THE WORLD  WILL SOON DISCOVER. Bible Speaks reacted to bruceq in RUSSIA Jehovah's Witnesses Had Foes Before Putin
RUSSIA Jehovah's Witnesses Had Foes Before Putin
2 APRIL 21, 2017 11:52 AM EDT By Leonid Bershidsky When the Russian Supreme Court banned Jehovah's Witnesses and ordered the confiscation of the denomination's property on Thursday, it wasn't the first time. The faithful were outlaws in the Soviet Union, too, until that country's final year. The stubborn group will fight on -- but the court has delivered another chilling reminder that President Vladimir Putin's Russia is even less free than the USSR was.
Jehovah's Witnesses are a U.S.-based global religious organization, and they often are targeted by authoritarian and belligerent governments because members don't believe in government authority. They don't vote, serve in the military, salute flags or hail leaders. When the Nazis came to power in Germany, the Witnesses wouldn't use the Nazi salute because, according to their beliefs, it amounted to idolatry. Hitler responded by sending more than 10,000 "Bible Students," as they called themselves then, to prisons and concentration camps, where their pacifism particularly inspired torturers.
In the Soviet Union directly after World War II, Witnesses were mostly concentrated in western Ukraine and Transcarpathia, and they had the bad luck to trade Nazi persecution for the equally harsh Stalinist kind. In two secret operations in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Witnesses were removed to Siberian labor camps. There were only about 10,000 of them then. But adherents of the denomination didn't stop practicing and preaching in exile and in the camps, and when, after Stalin's death, the state stopped systematically imprisoning them and switched to a harassment tactic, the flock started growing.
By January 1991, when President Mikhail Gorbachev's government officially permitted the organization, there were about 45,000 followers in the Soviet Union. They formed one of the most stubborn and resourceful resistance groups that ever existed in the Communist country. Emily Baran wrote in a 2014 book about Soviet Jehovah's Witnesses:
The 1990s were a time of unprecedented freedom for the Witnesses in Russia. They converted about 100,000 new members, acquired influence and, in some cities, expensive real estate. But in the early 2000s, after Putin came to power, harassment began anew, with courts regularly banning the Witnesses' regional communities and literature. That became easier with the passage of "anti-extremist laws" that ban the preaching of one religion's advantage over others. Witness literature readily fit the description: They don't just consider themselves the one true faith, but also proudly preach it.
The Witnesses fought the verdicts, sometimes reaching the European Court for Human Rights and winning there. But during Putin's latest presidential term, Russian courts have been encouraged to disregard the ECHR's decisions. Even though the European court is likely to overturn Thursday's Supreme Court ruling once the Witnesses' attempts to appeal reach Strasbourg, the Russian government is likely to stay firm on the ban, initiated by the justice ministry. The next step may be the prosecution of individual Witnesses for continuing to worship and proselytize.
Jehovah's witnesses are in many ways extreme, even though their non-violent creed is hardly "extremist." That makes them a test case for religious freedom: The less liberal and tolerant a country is, the harsher it treats this particular denomination.
Western democracies have struggled to accept Jehovah's Witnesses. At different times, they have faced bans in France, Spain and Canada because of their attitudes to military service and flags. But in recent years, following some protracted legal battles, European countries have come to recognize their right to their beliefs. The European Union has denounced the Russian ban.
At the other end of the spectrum, African dictatorial regimes have killed, tortured and driven out Witnesses. A number of Muslim nations have banned them, and so has China. Russia is now positioning itself at the restrictive end of the spectrum, and that augurs ill for other Protestant denominations and smaller religious groups. Like Western non-governmental organizations and members of the news media, which have been driven from Russia in the last four years, these groups represent a fifth column. Perhaps they don't defy the state as openly as Jehovah's Witnesses, but to Putin and his circle they still somehow appear disloyal because of their reluctance to join the big religions that maintain a relationship with the state and are controllable.
Russia has no more patience with openness and tolerance. Putin's regime doesn't care whether it passes any tests on that score. In a way, it's as defiant as the Witnesses, and so far, it's just as resilient. But the Jehovah's Witnesses have been resilient for longer.

Probably because child abuse is found everywhere in all religions so it is obviously not news [btw "incest" a form of child abuse was a problem with the First Century Christians as the letters to the Corinthians shows as well as the first few chapters in Revelation which shows many problems with sexual sins but obviously that did not make them  false Christians]  but only "one" religion has been banned in Russia.out of over 2,000 religions there according to the U.N. and other sources.

Bible Speaks reacted to JW Insider in What gives them the right to insert YHWH so that the the scriptures are manipulated to suit the their doctrine?
I'm glad you got right to the point. Asking "why associate with an organization that...?" clearly means that you think Christians should leave the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses. You are bringing up points that could be put in a thread of their own, but I'll assume that you are tying these points to survival of the Great Tribulation, which many (most?) Witnesses conflate with any fear of a third world war or the potential of world-wide persecution.
Asking that question, "why associate?" means you have given up on the idea that Jehovah's Witnesses are a true and valid representation in this twenty-first century of the Christian congregation in the first century.
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with you bringing these issues up for whatever reasons. I bring up similar issues regularly for clarity, so that fellow brothers and sisters are aware of the counter-arguments to our beliefs, and so that we don't fall into the trap of dishonesty where we simply say that something can't be true if it makes us look wrong. I would be happy to engage fully with your points especially if I thought your purpose was to help remove potential error from our teachings. That said, I don't actually believe that we survive the Great Tribulation of Revelation 7 by "washing our robes" through perfectly clean teachings, but by the cleanness of our conscience, by clean conduct. Therefore honesty about doctrine is even more important than claiming to have the right doctrine:
(Matthew 7:21-24) 21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does them will be like a discreet man who built his house on the rock.
Therefore, it's a matter of what sort of persons ought we to be, not what sort of doctrines did we believe.
But there is also considerable overlap between doctrines themselves and how we should honestly conduct ourselves. For example, we should trust that we don't need to participate in the world's politics and wars if we think about what it must mean to remain 'no part of this world.' That is very difficult for most people, and most religions. I won't get into dozens of other points like that here, but I'll try to get to the question of using the name "Jehovah."
I have a 1-year old granddaughter who calls me g'PA and sometimes GanPA and sometimes Gam'PA and sometimes GAM'pa. She identifies me correctly when she sees a picture on their wall, or in my iPhone, or on Skype or FaceTime. She has another grandfather who she calls Papa and Poppy (she calls her father Dada and Daddy). When I come through her door a few times a week to babysit along with my wife, I smile inside and out when she calls out g'PA. That's my name to her. She doesn't use that term for anyone else. I don't mind in the least that she mispronounces "grandpa" by leaving out a couple of whole consonants, or turns two syllables to one syllable.  Someday, she will probably try to distinguish her two grandfathers by including a more specific name like Grandpa Beezlebumps vs. Grandpa Hamhocker. Having her know that I have a more personal and specific name is probably not that important to me, as long as she knows me.
I can understand why we could be just as happy to "know" the personal specific name for God and use it for circumstances like public prayer and discussion, and use a title like "Father" in private, in the same way that my granddaughter calls me "g'PA." But we have the example of the Israelites whose history as found in the Bible contains the specific name THOUSANDS of times. That's the reason we think it's important. Because of the Bible. Jesus used the term Father (also Aramaic, abba) in his speech and prayers. And when the apostle Paul speaks of distinguishing our God from other gods, he doesn't use the divine name, but also calls Him, "God, the Father."
(1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) 5 For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him.
No one thinks it's a magic name that must be pronounced exactly right, or exactly the same in each language. That's not the point. The point is that we try to use a name that is distinctive, based on the tetragrammaton, with whatever vowels are common and understandable, and so that others know who we mean.
Also, just because Greber translates John 1:1 as we do, doesn't mean that the NWT depended on Greber or has any relationship to him. It's just an acknowledgement that other translators have translated the verse as the NWT does. People don't usually have a lot of complaints about how the Greber translation turned out, usually only two or three passages. Another one is about how the bodies turned up from an earthquake. We like Greber's version here, too.
(Matthew 27:51-53) . . .. 52 And the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the holy ones who had fallen asleep were raised up 53 (and people coming out from among the tombs after his being raised up entered into the holy city), and they became visible to many people.  [NWT shown, Greber presents same idea]
My point is that people don't complain about the Greber Bible as a bad translation with a lot of mistakes. They only point out one or two. They also complain about a claim of "spiritism" made about his translation process. Martin Luther made similar claims. One might even say that the apostle Paul made similar claims. It's what some people expected the direction of "holy spirit" to feel like.

Bible Speaks got a reaction from Carol Ann Torres in Do Feel Alone? Do You Have a Loss? Trying to Cope Difficult? You Are Not Alone ?
    (2 Cor 1:3, 4)
ARE you presently facing a trial in your life? Do you feel at a loss, unable to cope with it? Do you even at times fear that your problem is unique and that there is no solution to it?
If so, take heart! Whatever trials we may face, the Bible assures us that God can enable us to deal with them. The Bible acknowledges that God’s servants will “meet with various trials.” (James 1:2)  Note the word “various” (Greek poi·kiʹlos). According to ancient usage, the original word means “manifold” or “many-tinted” and emphasizes “the diversity of the trials.” In fact, in everyday speech, that basically means “many-colored.”
Thus, “various trials” are trials that come in many colors, so to speak. Nevertheless, Jehovah supports us so that we can cope with each one of them.
According to Peter, one way that God’s undeserved kindness is expressed is through the various ones who make up the Christian congregation.
Each servant of God has spiritual gifts, or abilities, that may serve as a source of encouragement to those facing trials. For instance, some members of the congregation are outstanding Bible teachers. Their insightful words inspire and motivate others to endure.  Others make regular shepherding visits at the homEs of those I n need of support. Such visits are occasions for encouragement, a ‘comforting of hearts. When overseers make such faith-strengthening visits, they impart a spiritual gift. Still others in the congregation are known for warmth, compassion, and tenderness in dealing with fellow believers who are saddened by trials. The empathy and active assistance shown by such loving brothers and sisters is a significant expression, or “color,” of God’s undeserved kindness.
Yes, whatever is the “color,” or nature, of our trial, there will always be a “color,” or expression, of God’s undeserved kindness that will match it. (James 1:17)
Jehovah’s timely and appropriate support provided for his servants—no matter how diverse their temptations or challenges may be—is but one evidence of “the greatly diversified wisdom of God.”  Do you not agree? http://m.wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2005447?q=support+others&p=par#h=3.

Bible Speaks got a reaction from John Lindsay Barltrop in When Will The Great Tribulation Come?
"For then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again." (Matthew 24:21)
What happens after the great tribulation is cut short? Jesus explained that several events will happen before Armageddon begins. These events are mentioned at Ezekiel 38:14-16 andMatthew 24:29-31.
Then we will see Armageddon. The battle of Armageddon is the climax of the great tribulation, just as the destruction of Jerusalem was the climax of the first fulfillment of the prophecy. (Malachi 4:1)
The great tribulation, with Armageddon as its climax, will be an event such as has not happened “since the world’s beginning.” (Matthew 24:21) After it happens, Christ will rule as King for 1,000 years.
        SOME EXPRESSIONS EXPLAINED
Great tribulation: The end of this wicked world. First, false religion will be destroyed. Then, there will be a time when Jesus will judge the sheep and the goats and appoint his faithful slave over all the Master’s belongings. Finally, the rest of this system will be destroyed at Armageddon “Coming”: In Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew chapters 24 and 25, Jesus is described as “coming,” or “arriving.” This refers to the time when he comes as Judge of all the nations during the great tribulation http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/402013530?q=matt+24%3A21&p=par

Bible Speaks got a reaction from Carol Ann Torres in The Bible foretold that persecution of true Christians would reach a climax during the last days.
    Romania
The Bible foretold that persecution of true Christians would reach a climax during the last days. (Gen. 3:15; Rev. 12:13, 17) Romania is a land where that prophecy has seen striking fulfillment. Yet, as this account will show, Jehovah’s Witnesses in Romania have let nothing extinguish the flame of truth that burns brightly in the hearts of God’s people. (Jer. 20:9)
Rather, they have recommended themselves “as God’s ministers, by the endurance of much, by tribulations, by cases of need, by difficulties, by beatings, by prisons.” (2 Cor. 6:4, 5) May their record of integrity encourage all who desire to walk with God during these difficult times.
A Romanian named Emanoil Chinţa was arrested during World War I and sent to a military prison in Italy, far from home. There he met some Bible Students who had been imprisoned because they refused to take up arms. Emanoil took to heart their Scriptural message. When he was released in 1919, he returned home to Baia-Mare, in Maramureş County, and zealously preached the good news and contributed to the formation of yet another group of Bible Students.
Thanks to the zeal and self-sacrificing spirit of the early pioneers of the good news and of those who listened to their message, the number of disciples multiplied and small groups of Bible Students mushroomed in the land. In fact, by 1919—just eight years after Károly Szabó and József Kiss returned to Romania—over 1,700 Kingdom publishers and interested ones were organized into 150 Bible study classes, now called groups or congregations. Brother Kiss served as a pioneer in his homeland until his death at 86 years of age. Brother Szabó returned to the United States in 1924 to coordinate the work in the Hungarian field there.
Fired up by nationalism and egged on by the clergy, the political authorities had no sympathy for those who would not rally to the flag and kill for the country. Hence, when the first world war broke out, many brothers were arrested and sentenced. Some were even executed, including Ioan Rus, a newly married man from the village of Petreştii de Mijloc, south of Cluj-Napoca.
In response to the clergy’s barrage of complaints, the Ministry of Religions approved the use of “public force” to hinder both the preaching and the meetings of Jehovah’s people. Thus, the police became an arm of the churches, arresting brothers on the false charge that they were disturbing the peace. The law, however, was not clearly defined, so sentences varied. The brothers’ good conduct also presented a problem. “The Bible Students cannot be condemned,” said one judge, “because they are often the most peaceable of men.”
Nevertheless, persecution intensified, and at the end of 1926, The Watch Tower was banned. But that did not stop the flow of spiritual food—the brothers simply changed the name of the magazine! Starting with the January 1, 1927, issue, the Romanian-language edition became The Harvest, then later The Light of the Bible, and finally Daybreak. Its Hungarian counterpart was renamed Christian Pilgrim, then Gospel, and lastly The Magazine of Those Who Believe in Christ’s Blood.
Yes, despite the clergy’s hate campaign, many honesthearted individuals wanted to hear the good news. They included a town mayor who devoured several brochures and later declared that he eagerly awaited the new world. In another town, a man asked for a number of copies of the publications, promising to distribute them to all who were willing to read them.
What is more, persecution sometimes had an effect opposite to that intended. For example, all the Witnesses in one area decided as a group to make their separation from “Babylon the Great” a matter of public record. (Rev. 18:2, 4) For five consecutive days, these courageous brothers and sisters streamed into the local town hall to draw up documents of withdrawal from their former church.
Community leaders were shocked, and the local priest was horrified. First he ran to the police station for help, but that proved futile. So he rushed back to the town hall and accused the notary of being a Communist for helping the people with their documents. Offended, the notary retorted that if the whole community came to him, he would help them draw up certificates of withdrawal. Thus the priest was stopped in his tracks, and the brothers were able to complete their paperwork.
In another instance, an elderly brother gave a fine witness in a court of law. The judge held in his hand two books published by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Waving them in front of the brother, the judge accused him of distributing religious propaganda.
“If you sentence me because I proclaim the truth of God’s Word,” replied the brother, “I would view this, not as a punishment, but as a badge of honor. The Lord Jesus told his followers to rejoice when persecuted for righteousness’ sake because this is how the prophets of old were treated. In fact, Jesus himself was persecuted and even impaled, not for wrongdoing, but for speaking the truth that he had received from God.”
The brother continued: “So if this court sentences me for proclaiming Jesus’ message about the Kingdom by means of those two books, it would be sentencing a man who has committed no crime.” The judge dismissed the charges.

I'm waiting for the signs in the sun, moon and stars to see it literally explode and show his visible power. As it also says they will hide Be hide the rocks? Could this also be literal? They have hid behind these mountains too long, Jehovah will soon pronounce his judgments is the wicked world ready? Babylon it says will be destroyed in one hour. We know a short period of time. This means NO RELIGION NOW CAN READ THE BIBLE IN RUSSIA? IF so I guess Russian Orthodox Church has to throw their lies away too? ??????
