Draw Close to God
You Can Find “the Very Knowledge of God”

JEHOVAH GOD has put within our reach a priceless treasure, and it is his heart’s desire that we find it. This treasure does not bring material wealth, but it will result in something that all the money in the world cannot buy—inner peace, contentment, and a satisfying life. What is this treasure? The words of wise King Solomon recorded at Proverbs 2:1-6 explain.
Solomon identifies this treasure as “the very knowledge of God”—that is, the truth about God and his purposes as revealed in the Bible. (Verse 5) There are several aspects to this treasure.
True teachings. The Bible answers such questions as these: What is GodÂ’s name? (Psalm 83:18) What happens at death? (Psalm 146:3, 4) Why are we here? (Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 115:16) Really, what price would you put on the answers to such important questions?
Wise counsel. The Bible tells us the best way to live. How can you make a marriage last? (Ephesians 5:28, 29, 33) How can you raise responsible children? (Deuteronomy 6:5-7; Ephesians 6:4) How can you find happiness in life? (Matthew 5:3; Luke 11:28) Again, what do you think—how valuable is reliable advice on such matters?
Insight into GodÂ’s nature and personality. The Bible is the main source of accurate information about God. What is he like? (John 1:18; 4:24) Does he care about us? (1 Peter 5:6, 7) What are some of his outstanding qualities? (Exodus 34:6, 7; 1 John 4:8) How much, would you say, is truthful information about our Creator worth?
“The very knowledge of God” is indeed a spiritual treasure. How can you find it? A clue lies in verse 4 of Proverbs chapter 2, where Solomon compares this knowledge to “hid treasures.” Think about this: A hidden treasure will not jump out of its hiding place and deposit itself into idle hands. We have to put forth effort to find it. So it is with the knowledge of God. This treasure is, in effect, buried in the Bible. To find it, we need to put forth effort.
Solomon explains what we need to do in order to find “the very knowledge of God.” The words “receive my sayings” and “incline your heart” show that we need a receptive heart. (Verses 1, 2) The words “call out,” “keep seeking,” and “keep searching” indicate that we need to expend ourselves, earnestly showing our initiative. (Verses 3, 4) To find the treasure, then, we need to make a diligent study of the Bible, doing so with a sincere heart.—Luke 8:15.
If we show such initiative, Jehovah will do the rest. “Jehovah himself gives wisdom,” says verse 6. Only with God’s help can we fully grasp the truths found in the Bible. (John 6:44; Acts 16:14) Of this you can be sure: If you sincerely search into God’s Word, you will find “the very knowledge of God”—a treasure that will enrich your life beyond measure.—Proverbs 2:10-21.* -

Beware of the Devil’s Snares! ~ ? ? ?
“Come . . . out from the snare of the Devil.”—2 TIM. 2:26.
THE Devil stalks Jehovah’s servants. His goal is not necessarily to destroy them, as a big-game hunter kills prey. Rather, the Devil’s main goal is to capture his quarry alive and use the person as he sees fit.—Read 2 Timothy 2:24-26.
To catch prey alive, a trapper may use a snare of some sort. He may try to get the animal to come out into the open where he can capture it with a noose. Or he may use a hidden trap that has a trigger and takes the animal by surprise. The Devil uses similar snares to catch GodÂ’s servants alive. If we want to avoid being caught, we must be alert and heed warning signs indicating that one of SatanÂ’s snares, or traps, is nearby.
This article will consider how we can guard against three of the traps that the Devil has used with a measure of success. These are (1) uncontrolled speech, (2) fear and pressure, and (3) excessive guilt. 
An animal caught in a snare loses control over its freedom of movement. Similarly, a person who succumbs to fear and related pressure has given up at least some control of his life. (Read Proverbs 29:25.)
Jehovah will forgive and forget your past errors if you are truly repentant and accept his mercy. Never feel that Jesus’ ransom sacrifice cannot cover your sins. To do so would be to fall victim to one of Satan’s snares. Despite what the Devil wants you to believe, the ransom can cover the sins of all who have fallen into sin and have repented. (Prov. 24:16) Faith in the ransom can lift the burden of excessive guilt from your shoulders and can give you strength to serve God with your whole heart, mind, and soul.—Matt. 22:37.

SHOULD A CHRISTIAN CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS? 
Christmas is not a bible teaching and true Christians are not to celebrate it.. To prove that let us examine some questions about Christmas.. 
(1)WAS JESUS BORN ON DECEMBER 25TH? 
ANSWER -NO
The bible does not give a specific date that Jesus was born, but it gave us an insight or a clue that shows  Jesus was not born in December or January.  It simply states: “There were also in that same country shepherds living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks. And suddenly Jehovah’s angel stood by them, and . . . the angel said to them: ‘. . . There was born to you today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”—Luke 2:8-11.
Facts point to Jesus’ birth at approximately the beginning of October when shepherds with their flocks would still spend the night in the fields. The countryside around Bethlehem experiences the coldest weather during the months of December and January. Hence, to keep them warm at night, flocks are kept indoors  into protective shelters.
(2)SINCE THERE IS NO EVIDENCE  THAT THE BIRTH  OF JESUS CHRIST OCCURRED ON  DECEMBER  25, WHY IS CHRISTMAS CELEBRATED ON THIS DATE?
ANSWER- The Encyclopædia Britannica says that church leaders  chose it “to coincide with the pagan Roman festival marking the ‘birthday of the unconquered sun,’” at the time of the winter solstice. According to The Encyclopedia Americana, many scholars believe that this was done “in order to make Christianity more meaningful to pagan converts.”In summary ,  Christmas has a pagan origin
(3)DID THE EARLY CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS? 
ANSWER-NO. 
There is no historical evidence that the early Christians celebrated the birth of the Christ. But they did memorialize his death. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) It was not until more than 300 years after Jesus’ birth that Christendom officially began to observe Christmas on December 25. Interestingly, in the mid-17th century, an act of parliament banned Christmas celebrations in England. In the United States, the Massachusetts General Court did the same. Why? The book The Battle for Christmas, says: “There is no biblical or historical reason to place the birth of Jesus on December 25.” It adds that to the Puritans, “Christmas was nothing but a pagan festival covered with a Christian veneer.”
(4)IS THERE A CONNECTION BETWEEN SANTA CLAUS AND JESUS CHRIST BIRTH? 
ANSWERS-NO
The Santa Claus myth owes its origin to Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Asia Minor, now Turkey. “Virtually everything written about St. Nicholas is based on legends,” says The Christmas Encyclopedia. The designation “Santa Claus”  owe its origin to the word Sinterklaas, a corruption of the Dutch terms for “Saint Nicholas.” Historically and Biblically, Santa Claus has nothing in common with Jesus Christ.
(4)DID JESUS INSTRUCT US TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTH? 
ANSWER-NO
There is no record in the bible that shows Jesus Christ instructing us to celebrate his birth.His father did not celebrate his birthday neither  did his disciples celebrate it. Infact,the only event Jesus specifically instructed his followers to commemorate was his death, not his birth, and this was to be done as a simple communion meal. (Luke 22:19, 20) Note, too, that the Gospels of Mark and John are silent about Jesus’ birth.
(6)AFTER KNOWING THAT CHRISTMAS IS NOT FOR CHRISTIANS, DOES IT STILL MATTER IF I CELEBRATE IT? 
ANSWER-YES
At John 15:14 Jesus said :"You are my friends if you do what I command". Doing what Jesus specifically commanded us to do will show our obedience to God's rulership and will bring blessings to us now and in the future.(Luke 11:28)
(5)CAN WE STILL HONOUR JESUS CHRIST IF WE DO NOT CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY? 
ANSWER-YES
HOW TO HONOUR  CHRIST
Some feel that regardless of what the actual date is, Christians should still commemorate Jesus’ birth. In their minds such a celebration, when observed in a dignified manner, is an appropriate way to honor Christ.This thinking is however  flawed. 
The birth of Jesus is indeed an important event in the Bible account. The Bible says that when Jesus was born, a multitude of angels appeared suddenly and erupted in joyful praise to God, saying: “Glory in the heights above to God, and upon earth peace among men of goodwill.” (Luke 2:13, 14)
However, it is noteworthy that nowhere in the Bible is there even a suggestion that JesusÂ’ birthday should be celebrated. In contrast, there is a specific command to commemorate his death, which JehovahÂ’s Witnesses do once a year. (Luke 22:19) That is one way to honor Jesus.
On the last night of his human life, Jesus said: “You are my friends if you do what I am commanding you.” (John 15:14) He also said: “If you love me, you will observe my commandments.” (John 14:15) Clearly, there is no better way to honor Jesus Christ than to learn and follow his teachings.
PLEASE NOTE
Although Jehovah witnesses choose not to celebrate Christmas,  we respect each person’s right to decide for himself in this matter. We do not interfere in the Christmas celebrations of others.

The New World Translation is absolutely forbidden in Russia. ?
Brothers not only can't meet, or preach, but now that they find our Bible, they go to jail.
On 20 December 2017 at 21:55, the leningrad regional court confirmed the decision of the city court of vyborg to recognize the Russian translation of the Bible by Jehovah's witnesses as "extremist material". The Representatives of the right-Holder intend to appeal this decision.
Such erroneous judicial decisions on the recognition of certain extremist printed materials are the basis for all accusations of extremism against Jehovah's witnesses, as well as the basis of the court's decision. On the liquidation and prohibition of all registered organizations of this religion and the confiscation of their property in the revenue of the state.
The Court's ridiculous decision to ban the bible itself clearly demonstrated the perversity of mechanisms to recognize the divine services of witnesses, including incompetent or openly biased expert opinions and the violation of the law of court decisions.
In 2014, the situation with the experience and legal procedures in relation to the sacred text has attracted the attention of the president of Russia, so he made a legislative initiative - to protect the sacred books of different religions, including the bible , the action of anti-extremist legislation (in other words, the incompetence of prosecutors, experts and judges). However, even this did not help to save one of the bible translations from yesterday's court decision.
International organizations have repeatedly called on Russia to abandon the existing list of extremist materials, to review and revoke court rulings against Jehovah's witnesses, who are currently being subjected to unfair treatment on the basis of such judicial decisions.

In the Middle Ages, God’s personal name was rather widely known in Europe. That name, represented by four Hebrew letters called the Tetragrammaton and commonly transliterated YHWH (or JHVH), appeared on coins, on facades of houses, in many books and Bibles, and even in some Catholic and Protestant churches. 
However, the trend in recent times is to eliminate the name of God from Bible translations and from other uses. One indication of this is the Letter to the Bishops’ Conferences on ‘the Name of God,’ dated June 29, 2008. 
In it the Roman Catholic Church advised that the Tetragrammaton in its various renderings should be replaced by “Lord” and that God’s personal name should not be used in hymns and prayers during Catholic religious services. And the leaders of other religions inside and outside of Christendom have also hidden the identity of the true God from millions upon millions of worshippers. - Bible Speaks -

Syrian Writer Taciano Agreed On Accuracy Of Four Gospels ~ ???
Many researchers have compared and ordered the events of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

That was what the Syrian writer Taciano did, who recognized that these four books were accurate and had been inspired by God.
Around 170 he wrote the Diatessaron, a work that combines in a single story the events of Jesus' life and ministry.

LET JEHOVAH GUIDE YOU WHEN MAKING DECISIONS ~ ? ? ? ? ?
When we have to make a decision, we first need to think about what Bible principles can help us and how we can apply them.
In some cases, we may want to do more research in our publications or even ask an elder for advice. He could help us to think about other Bible principles.
Imagine this situation: A sister is married to someone who is not a Witness. She plans to go out in the ministry on a particular day. (Acts 4:20) But on that day, her husband does not want her to go preaching. He tells her that they have not spent much time together lately and that he would like to take her out somewhere.
So the sister considers Bible verses that can help her make a wise decision. She knows that she must obey God and that Jesus commanded us to make disciples. (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 5:29)
But she also remembers that a wife should be in subjection to her husband and that God’s servants must be reasonable. (Ephesians 5:22-24; Philippians 4:5) Is her husband trying to stop her from preaching, or does he just want to spend time with her that day?
As JehovahÂ’s servants, we want to make decisions that are reasonable and that please him.

THE NEW WORLD TRANSLATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES(NWT) BAN APPEAL REJECTED BY LENINGARD REGIONAL COURT. 
NEW WORLD TRANSLATION REMAINS  BANNED IN RUSSIA. 
On December 20,2017, the Leningrad Regional Court denied our appeal of the Vyborg City Court’s August ruling that banned the Russian-language New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT), declaring it an extremist publication..... When questioned, one of the court-appointed experts further defended her original claim by stating that the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures cannot be considered a Bible unless it is marked "by the blessing of the patriarch"( head of Russian Orthodox Church)  or matches word for word with such a translation. The “experts” also objected to the use of God’s personal name, Jehovah, and claimed that the text of the NWT does not support certain church dogma. The judge rejected any motion by the defense for a new unbiased expert study of the NWT........ 
After their appeal was rejected today, our brothers have no other remedy available within the Russian legal system and will submit the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
