Well yes, there are other interpretations, aren't there? Just yesterday the lady who lost her farther told me they obviously needed a electrician in heaven. And then there's the Trinity and hell fire and a host of other things.

“Thou hast escaped me! Thou has escaped me!” said Roger Chillingsworth after Arthur Dimmesdale retreated into his closed club, and his very countenance seemed to wither away, his very reason for existence blown to smithereens.

A person is “assigned” a Kingdom Hall. Some go there, others do not. I have never seen or heard of anyone who was ever sanctioned or criticized for going where they wanted to, at whatever times they normally met. As a young man I and my friends used to go “sister hunting” for wives all over various States.

Yes, I’m sure you care about your mother but you appear to care more about insulting her beliefs—and thereby her for being stupid enough to hold them. Try respecting her beliefs and stop carrying on about her being “ordered” to this or that because it is not the way she would phrase it, nor is it true.

Actually, bad comparison. The elders don't make up rules, they are supposed to stick clearly to the tenets of the Bible, as interpreted by Jehovahs Witnesses. We on the other hand are not the elders, we are not the KH, we can make up any rules we like.

God goes for that method too as many scriptures attest.
You object to rules that decree participants should avoid bitter backbiting but should instead show reasonable respect for one another? Fine. Plainly, you belong here.

We had some one asked to be disfellowshipped …the elders didn’t want to but she was insistent…..so they did…but it seems now the elders are loathed to disfellowship anyone,,,they really try hard to get the person to take a break….

I am surprised they did. Usually they don't disfellowship someone just because they ask to be disfellowshipped (?) The only way I think that would work is if you handed them a letter of dissasociation...(?) But what do I know....
And yes, if you want to join the closed club you can.....as Tom said, it might be more beneficial for you than here only.

You worked yourself out of that very nicely... .......total collectivism is never good .... the individual will and choice is always supreme and a willing sacrifice in every situation .....not total abstinence of the group..... just as absolute subjugation to the group is not acceptable.
One thing that jehovah values is our willing choice in every situation.... a choice to submit to his moral values.

if he was an intellectual we could respect, I would accept that reasoning....... so I do not.  But the excerpt sounds a bit more socialist communist to me, where individuality is lost in the collective.
Jehovah wants us to keep our individuality but learn to temper it around those who are not like us.  It is the loving thing to do.  Unfortunately, I also have a kind of break-out personality - like this weaponized virus!!   I contain myself (because I am a bit over the top in my enthusiasm for everything), and then the Jack-in-the-box jumps out!  I push it back in ... and then, when I am not vigilant - it pops up.
We all have our failings. ......

Ditto - even if you are a smelly vulture.... lol.
Seriously - you are adding to your own burdens /load.  No need to go as far as to punish yourself.
I knew a brother who did the same as you.  He was also a character due to the fact that he grew up in an orphanage and (who knows) what happened to him there. He was never adopted. He learnt to only rely on the self... they are always awkward and do not generally fit in.  They themselves always feel different.  Children come out of these institutions with some unsociable traits such as quirky or extremely dark humor and an individuality which does not fit in. He was accepted back in the truth before he died.
I do not always understand your humor But I have not experienced it to be nasty or deprecating.  Sometimes only of the self!     Why continually expose yourself to the truly nasty ones?  Not worth it.

You definitely aren't painting a pretty picture of this World Economic Forum @Mic Drop I had no idea about the Satanic side of that organization.
We shouldn't be surprised though. We know who "the ruler of this world is".... Jesus told us 2 millenia ago.

Hmm. Well, we DO have to work on that. On the other hand, police are known to develop a sort of “gallows humor” due to what they have experienced. Maybe it’s something like that with you too.
You didn’t have to say this. No one here would ever have known. The fact that you did say it nonetheless indicates several things: 1) respect for the arrangement of the congregation of God, 2) a personal sense of honor, 3) proof that you do what you do out of fear of God and not humans, and 4) a desire not to ensnare others, even unknowingly, into violating congregation discipline not to engage with disfellowshipped ones. My respect for you has steadily heightened, and with this it goes through the roof.
At the same time, I still see no reason you should not join the closed club, nor for @Annato reject your request when you make it. Disfellowshipped ones can attend meetings, in fact they are encouraged to do so when repentant. I’ve no doubt that the ‘honor system’ would compel you to behave there as though sitting in the Kingdom Hall. There’s no reason to cut yourself off from proper association, particularly as there are those there who are just the ticket for you to be readjusted. Find things worthwhile and you could even repackage them for the crowd here. I mean, the malcontents here repackage and run again the same pablum ad infinitum. No reason you can’t repackage stuff as well.
Well, yeah. I see where you’re coming from. But there’s no need to add to it unnecessarily. You should come, as the eagle does, to the carcass that is JWI—and all the others, too.
I’m not sure what to make of this. Yes, you don’t want the Truth to be spoken of abusively. But with the elders apparently willing to keep you on board under some lesser form of discipline—well, I’m not sure one has to be less forgiving than God. Lots of sins are exposed these day. Adding them up, Jehovah’s people still have less than the population in general, because of the godly principles they diligently seek to apply. Even without holy spirit, it rubs off through sheer repetition.
We all fall short many times, James says. The truth of the matter might be as when Bud was replacing my car brakes and he couldn’t figure out how to reinstall the anti-rattle clip. “What’s one more rattle on a Ford?” he said at last as he threw it away.
Maybe I can serve as a character witness for you someday. I’d like that.
”Dear, TTH. Please don’t offer to serve as a character witness for Pudgy. We’re well away that he’s a character.”—the brothers.

It’s called “conducting yourself in the house of God, which is the congregation of the living God” deporting oneself with reasonable respect for those who have given their all in Jehovah’s service. Pudgy knows how to do it. That’s why the invitation is extended to him.
Oh, cool your jets, you crazy malignant woman who quotes scripture by the truckload but never finds the one that applies. Review the above verse again:
“…that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in God’s household, which is the congregation of the living God…” 1 Timothy 3:15
Note that it is not just “me and Jesus, or even “me and Jehovah.” It will not do to spew hatred toward the congregation, at the same time wrapping yourself in the robe of your holier than thou love of God and Jesus.
“If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.” 1 John 4:20

It is not at all ‘obvious.’ It’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
okay, make that the 2nd stupidest. No one is shunned for lack of participation in the ministry.

    @Patiently waiting for Truth
We have already discussed on here quite a number of times that not everyone will get the chance to react favorably to the preaching work. This is talking about those who know what they should be doing and don't do it.
There is nothing wrong or sinister about supporting "Christ's brothers". Supporting one another is a good thing in the Christian congregation, wouldn't you agree?

I agree, but that's not what I was talking about.
To me it looks more like they are trying to make us think that they will deliver some kind of "piece de resistance" which will save our lives at Armageddon and if we don't listen to instructions now, we may not listen to that special piece of instruction later on and as a consequence we will die. That is rubbish*. Again, I am not saying instructions are bad. It is the way this is being done. Using this type of reasoning as a coercive tool to obey instructions today. That's what I don't like. Not the listening to instructions.  The thing is, like this they have every Witness second guessing themselves with how far they should take today's instructions seriously, (vaccination being an example) and sitting on the edge of their seat in anticipation of some future imagined instruction, instead of focusing on what really matters. Too much focus on last minute "life saving" instructions coming from imperfect men. As I explained in my original post, the mark on our forehead is what qualifies each individual for survival. The way we live our life now. The mark for survival is not given at obedience to some instructions delivered at, or just before, Armageddon. Pure worship book: "Before the destruction comes, individuals need to be “sighing and groaning”—deeply grieved  at heart—over the wickedness of this world. And rather than hide their feelings, they must demonstrate by words and actions their devotion to pure worship. How can they do so? They need to react favorably to the preaching work that is being done today, to continue putting on a Christlike personality, to get baptized in symbol of their dedication to Jehovah, and to support Christ’s brothers loyally."  It doesn't say "And you must listen to instructions to go and hide in an attic/basement/forest and get vaccinated" Or whatever the case may be....
*It’s as stupid as saying you all must get vaccinated in order to get saved at Armageddon.

So does the Bible, most notably putting the singers up front.
What’s the big deal? Having just viewed the video for the midweek meeting about pulling unitedly should disaster strike, I find it impossible to grumble about it. If someone wants to pull my bacon out of the fire, and train me to do the same for others, why would I interfere with that? You could just view these bits of advice as given to overcome the natural human tendency to squabble and go off in a hundred different directions in times of stress. Can you imagine the participants here all pulling together in times of chaos?
Don’t overthink it. When the time comes if you find you can’t do something, don’t.
It’s a little like when the Babylon Bee guys pressed Elon Musk into whether he would confess Jesus and be saved. After dancing around a little, Elon said ‘if Jesus is into saving people, I have no problem with that. Sure, why not?’
Do the same kind of dance yourself.
