  1. Sigh….though it has nothing to do with anything in the thread, out of left field comes this gem from PSomH:

How can you be concerned about a dog, but not concerned about Child Sexual Abuse in the JW Org ?

“Neither the search nor the investigation produced any evidence that the Belgian Jehovah’s Witnesses had ever protected members accused of sexual abuse of minors by not reporting them to the police in violation of the Belgian rule of mandatory reporting.

“….The Court of Brussels has now concluded that “there is no evidence” that the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belgium violated the reporting obligation... Scholars of new religious movements have repeatedly warned that accusations by disgruntled former members should of course be examined, but cannot be considered like established facts, and their attitudes and motivations should also be considered.”

The other pictures includes an article from a Tulsa paper advertising Rutherford's speech which had actually happened on Monday

Huh. A year or so ago I reviewed footage of the Tulsa riots. It surfaced in response to then-currant racial tensions, and it was new to me.

In the backdrop of city footage, there was a large billboard of Rutherford. Now I know why.

Yes - manufactured by modern philosophies.

Uh oh. You may have missed the point here and credited me with going too deep.

The entire passage in quotes is from the Gettysburg address of Abraham Lincoln, today considered a masterpiece of pithy speech. (though it was not at the time). I used it to illustrate that just as the conversation gets interesting, you-know-who interrupts to try to rechannel discussion back to his whiny anti-jw point.

To be fair, someone from Africa would not be expected to know that.

Apparently it is not plain for all to see because you completely missed the point of what I was saying.

It’s kind of like when the chief nurse at the group home asked me if it was really so that overnight employees slept on the job. (A major no-no.)

I replied that I had never actually seen one sleep on the job but I had many times seen them engage in activity that so closely resembled sleep that only a trained expert could tell the difference.

  5. “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to ….um….yes, Patiently Sitting on my Hands, what is it?”

And all this is more important than talking about the JW Org's teachings on certain matters ??????

In 1920, WTJWorg wrote and spoke nonsense. Why would anyone today have to believe they don’t do that anymore?

Because they’ve had 100 years to refine. Others weren’t doing much of anything back then beyond running the trinitarian/hellfire route.

If you have to go back 100 years to dig up dirt, there can’t be too much dirt to dig.

I recall that that Satan pretended not to know when he said :  is it so...... you are not to eat from ....

There is a lie right within the question, a recent speaker pointed out, and it is a purposeful lie:

“Did God really say that you must not eat from every tree of the garden?”

to implant the idea of, “Wow, he won’t let you guys do anything!”

The modern day equivalent would be to carry on about how the guard rails of the highway are more like a strait jacket.

However, IBSA  = International Bible Students ASSOCIATION. That was not an Organisation.

    Tell it to Merriam Webster:

    Definition of association

2: an organization of persons having a common interest :

     (bolding mine)

The words are synonymous. Nothing to get all worked up over. You haven’t discovered the smoking gun. Sheesh.

Pestilential as Srecko may be, he does not make such ridiculous statements. He makes other ridiculous statements.

I am convinced of the same conclusion.

In that case, you too understand nothing.

Look, it is all based on scripture. They’re not just pulling it out of their hats. The verse that directs them, then and now, is:

“a few people, that is, eight souls, were carried safely through the water. That which corresponds to this is also now saving you, namely, baptism” 1 Peter 3:21

You would have us believe that Rutherford meant any baptism by just any old church?

Do you recall the placard marches he organized, with sometimes hundreds of friends holding aloft alternating signs that read:

    “There’s good in all religions!”

    and

“It Doesn’t Matter What You Believe as Long as You’re Sincere!”

or did those signs carry other words?

Personally, I always agree with much of what you say. ….Your last post is a great example. I agree with much of it, but you also give a few lines

So often do various persons give comments and I agree with almost all of it. My finger hovers over that like button,  but then there will be one statement I choke on that torpedoes it all. I don’t need someone thinking, “you agree with that?”

A lot of overall very fine comments go unliked for that reason.

You'll have "Bitter Winter" people like Massimo Introvigne claim he knows how bad it is, but he also is dependent on the same few individuals.

Shooting the messenger is the oldest trick in the book. To be sure, sometimes they deserve to be shot. Other times…

always finally boils down to less than 12 interviewees, and even those 12 seem to be copies of just a couple of different stories.

I can think of another 12 who for all their efforts ultimately could not get the accurate word out.  (sorry) I also think of the diagrams of Hitler camps smuggled out by the bros only to be disbelieved by the respected sources.

One of the initial ideas, of course, was that religion was all "superstition" that would get in the way of human progress.

Have any of them gotten over that idea?

What country has sponsored and built more Muslim mosques and schools than any other country in the world? China.

Are they real mosques or the type that parallel the nationalized churches that had better tow the line with regard to glorifying the state?

As you probably know I'm engaged in an off-and-on discussion on the subject of our chronology …..I am very aware that I will not gain any friends or followers by being an "apologist" for China….

“Whereas if I’m the one to do it, they’ll run their quill pens through it. He’s obnoxious and disliked, did you know that? (I hadn’t heard.)”.            1776.

  12.  When I filled in for vacationing Davey the Kid, cleaning his speakeasy account each night, he told me that I could depend upon finding plenty of spare change on the floor. I did. It all went in the PacMan machine.

Other than that, my gaming has strictly been physical. Bi-weekly Scrabble games with my brother (who cheats). And within the last year—I mean, I haven’t adopted a new game in decades, “Splendor” has become a sensation for the family and extended family. For the longest time, I was saying that it is the perfect combination of skill and luck. But I am having to come to grips with the humbling reality that I cannot beat my daughter at it.

You remind me of these people who are pulling down statues of kings because they had a black page-boy - with 2021 vision he is now classified as a full blown racist!..... and worthy to be written out of history!

When time travel is invented, retro-police will give a friendly wave to American slaveholding forefathers and they race back through the eons to haul the real villains, the Ancient Greek pedophiles, back in leg irons

But all Chinese must worship the state .

Lot of bad stuff coming out of that land these days, per BitterWinter. Religious curriculum being rewritten to glorify the state & whoever doesn’t comply being slowly, sometimes quickly, erased.

Sometimes I think it is like Herod with the infant boys. He doesn’t really know how to find who he’s look for. Wiping them all out is his answer.

Not much allowance for God is made in communist lands. Reviewing a video in prep for a Bible student, this pioneer conveys her feeling that it is practically game over when they prevail:

…… Could be worse…… Could be a US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.

This has to be super-traumatic to the “these colors don’t run” people. These days they can’t run fast enough.

It’s in the back of my mind to ask my Bible student about this. His military stint is done and he now spends time counseling PTSD vets. But I’m reluctant to stir up the pot. He speaks of being in the forward team discussing humanitarian issues, while the special ops team accompanying him (you don’t ask what they are doing, he says) went to work at more nefarious doings.

He does a ton of the legwork.

I even helped in out with this. He wanted a copy of Nelson Barbour’s will. I ran down to the courthouse to fetch one for him.

You are free to come to your own conclusions about what the evidence can mean.

The evidence points to Nelson not ending up as a wealthy man. He bequeaths specific pieces of furniture to various parties..
