Police: Husband Arrested After Killing Man Who Told Wife ‘I’m Going to Rape You’

New York police arrested a 61-year-old Bronx man Monday after he reportedly beat his wife’s attempted rapist to death, WNYW-TV reported.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. Monday when the alleged assailant, whom authorities identified as 43-year-old Earl Nash, broke into Diallo’s apparment in the Morrisania neighborhood and began attacking his wife, Nenegale Diallo.

Nenegale told DNA Info that when she heard a knock on the door, she thought it might have been her kids returning home. But when she opened the door, Nash allegedly pushed his way in and locked the door behind him.

The victim said that when Nash began tearing her clothes off, she begged him stop and pleaded with him, “Please, anything you want, I give you.”

“I don’t want money, I’m going to rape you,” the Nash reportedly replied.

But Nenegale managed to break free long enough to reach for a phone and call her husband, who was outside the building at the time of the attack.

That’s when Mamadou ran up to the sixth floor and confronted the suspect in the hallway of the apartment.

Police discovered Nash unconscious and unresponsive with severe trauma to his head and body, WNYW reported. The suspect was then taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition by an EMS crew. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An NYPD spokesman told DNA Info that Nash had been arrested 14 times since 1997. Previous offenses include selling drugs, bribery, harassment and criminal contempt, according to criminal records. His most recent arrest was May 14 for trespassing, a parole violation.

After Monday evening’s altercation, Diallo, a livery driver from Guinea, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

“He’s a good guy. He’s been in this country 27 years and never had a problem,” a friend of Diallo, who asked to remain anonymous, told DNA Info.
