6.5 Magnitude Quake Hits West Coast of Sumatra, Says USGS

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of West Sumatra in Indonesia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake, which hit around 6 a.m. local time, was at a depth of 50 kilometers (31 miles), the USGS said in a statement on its website.
