ARKHANGELSK PROVINCIAL COURT ACQUITS JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
Pomorie, 3 June 2016

The Arkhangelsk Jehovah's Witnesses will continue their activity. By evening the provincial court denied the lawsuit of the prosecutor's office. The agency had requested to find the religious organization extremist. The reason for turning to the court was searches that were conducted by the regional directorate of the FSB. At the time, forbidden literature was found in the possession of members of the organization.

Klavdia Lepekha, senior prosecutor of the department of the prosecutor's office of Arkhangelsk province:  "Possession of extremist materials for the purpose of distribution occurred. And we tried to prove that extremist materials were in the possession of persons who are members of the local religious organization, both in their homes, and in the Kingdom Hall, and in the automobile, and they were confiscated. After the prosecutor's office receives the reasoned decision of the court and studies it, then it will decide the question about further appeal to the Supreme Court."

Arkhangelsk Jehovists greeted the decision of the provincial court with applause. Meanwhile, in a number of Russian regions the activity of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses has already been found to the extremist.
