WRENTHAM, Mass. — Judith Purington Faucett of Wrentham, Mass., died in her sleep Saturday, June 25, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. She was surrounded by family members.

Judy was born in North Jay on June 27, 1929, the middle of three daughters of Thelma and Maurice Purington. She was almost the first baby to be born at the new hospital in Fairbanks (now Foothills Heights Apartments) but came just a little too soon and was delivered at home by Dr. York.

Judy became an accomplished pianist, having taken lessons from Mrs. Otho Knowles followed by advanced training at the Florence Libby Studio in Portland.

She met her husband, John, on a blind date at the Weld Dance Hall. They were married on March 25, 1951. Besides being a homemaker raising two sons, Judy assisted John as piano accompanist on many occasions from his senior college recital at Bucknell University to his choral concerts at Norwood and Dedham, Mass., at high schools, as well as musicals including "The Music Man" and "Guys and Dolls."

In 1981 John brought his school choir to Jay where they combined with the Jay High School chorus for a concert with Judy serving as accompanist. For many years she also gave private piano lessons.

Judy was an active member of the Mansfield, Mass., congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, spending many hours giving Bible lessons to people in the surrounding area. She and John recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her sons, David, and his wife, Rebekah of Wilton, and Timothy of Wrentham, Mass. Also surviving is her younger sister, Janet Kinney, of North Jay; as well as cousins, Carolyn Fletcher and Charles Collet; and nephews, Maurice Kinney, Douglas Ladd, Jonathan Ladd, Steven Ladd and Thomas Ladd.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, who died on June 5, 2016; her older sister, Pauline Ladd; cousins, David Purington and Keith Newhall; and a niece, Shannon Kinney Dawes.

Messages of condolence can be left on the R.J. Ross Funeral Home website:http://www.rjrossfuneralhomeinc.com/fh.
