Hazel Elizabeth (Shuttleworth) Smallwood, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the age of 92 at Huntington Woods Health Center in Westlake, Ohio.

Hazel was born in Grafton, W.Va. on Aug. 14, 1923. She was the daughter of Clarence A. (Doc) Shuttleworth and Hannah E. (Shingleton) Shuttleworth.

Hazel graduated from Grafton High School in 1941, and worked at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant after Graduating. She retired from L.S. Starrett in Westlake, Ohio, in 1980, after 25 years of employment.

Hazel is survived by two daughters: Linda Seiber and Sandy Wolfe and husband Ernie; 10 grandchildren: Sharon Beam and husband Arnie, Juandagene Seiber, James Edith Collins, Cynthia Wolfe, Earnest Wolfe Jr. and wife Kim, Tamara Wolfe and Christine Valvo and husband Dan; 18 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and step-mother, Susie (Brown) Shuttleworth, Hazel was preceeded in death by her husband Eugene R. (Booby) Smallwood, one daugther, Judith Ann, who died in infancy, one sister, Mrs. Betty Fairley, and two brothers, James Edward and Karel Dwight (Hoppy) Shuttleworth.

Hazel was a member of the Elyria East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where a memorial service will be held for her on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 1 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Elyria East Kingdom Hall at 39033 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
