STOUGHTON - Judith Anne (Garey) Myers, age 76, of Stoughton, fell asleep in death on Aug. 27, 2016, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Manitowoc, the daughter of Elmer Arthur Jr. and Sara Lucille (Cramer) Garey. She was the oldest of four siblings. The Garey family moved to the Madison area where she attended and graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1958.

Judy met a rugged firefighter named Roger Walter Myers and they were married Oct. 1, 1960. In 1963, the family welcomed their first child, James Arthur. Judy loved being a mother and couldn't wait to add to the family. Roger and Judy went on to have four more children, Mary Elizabeth, born 1969, Stephen Paul, born 1971, Peter Andrew, born 1973 and Daniel Douglas, born 1975. Through the years, many adventures were had by the entire family on their annual road trips, in which music appreciation was learned in the back of the family station wagon.

Along with her great love of family, was her love of the Bible and spiritual truths. On Feb. 2, 1975, Roger and Judy together symbolized their dedication to Jehovah God by means of water baptism. The family attended the Monona Grove congregation in Madison. In 1993, Roger and Judy, along with their two youngest sons, moved to Tempe, Ariz. Judy loved being able to share her faith and Bible promises with others. She had the privilege of being able to share in the full-time ministry. She sowed many seeds of kingdom truths that took root and grew in many hearts.

In 2002, Roger and Judy returned to Wisconsin, settling in the city of Stoughton. They greatly enjoyed spending time with their grown children and their spouses whom they considered to be their children as well. Judy loved spoiling her grandchildren, especially her great-grandson. On Aug. 15, 2010, just a few weeks shy of their 50th wedding anniversary, Roger passed away. Judy was a colorful personality…generous and loving…..steadfast and firm in her faith……We long to see her again. Revelation 21:3-4.

Judy is survived by her children, James (Trista) Myers of Madison, Mary Beth (John) Thompson of Mount Horeb, Stephen (Heidi) Myers of Waunakee, Peter (Sandra) Myers of Mesa, Ariz., and Daniel (Jennifer) Myers of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kathryn (Sean) Richardson, Julian Thompson, Tyler Myers and Bailey Myers; great-grandson, Liam Richardson; foster daughter, Kimberly Tohannie of Tuba City, Ariz., and her children, Jerrica, Jerrold and Nizhoni; sisters, Sue (Gary) Chenier and Linda (Tom Heninger) Rothberger; and sister-in-law, Linda Garey; along with many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant sister, Peggy Jo; brother, Elmer "Buz" Garey III; brother-in-law, Lance Rothberger; and grandson, John C. Thompson.

A visitation will be held at the KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, 4545 E. Buckeye Road, Madison, from 12 noon until 2 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, with a memorial talk to follow.

A special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the many wonderful doctors and nurses for the loving care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, please share your written stories and anecdotes of your adventures with Judy. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
