Catherine Leota (Kenepp) Spencer, 100, fell asleep in death Dec. 10, 2016, in Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton.

Born in November 1916, in Akron, she was a daughter to Elmer and Pearl (Givler) Kenepp.

She married Willard Spencer in March of 1935. They moved from Akron to a dairy farm near Harlem Springs in 1945 where Catherine lived in the same farmhouse for over 70 years. 

She is survived by five children, two daughters, Patricia (Donald) Seese of Carrollton and Eunice Girroir of Lancaster, CA, and three sons, Bill (Pearlene), Denny (Janice) and Jim (Jeannie), all of Carrollton; 23 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty, Barbara, Alice and Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in July 1981; her parents; a stepson, Robert Spencer; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Hartong) Spencer; a granddaughter, Amy, and her husband, Charles E. Crowe; a granddaughter, Melody Bomgren; and six siblings, Dilla Bosch and Robert, Gene, Elmer Jr., Alton and Arthur Kenepp.

Catherine was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in August of 1940. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Carrollton, OH. She enjoyed Christian meetings and conventions and sharing her faith with others, as well as spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, knitting and her cat, Kitty.

She requested cremation which has been carried out.

Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, in The Kingdom Hall, 515 Steubenville Rd., SE, Carrollton.

Visitation is at 2 p.m. with a memorial talk at 3 p.m. with Melvin Ludy Jr. officiating.
