Champaign – Janet Louis Edwards, 71, passed away on Thursday (Dec. 29, 2016) at her home in Champaign.

She was born on June 7, 1945, in Aurora to Arthur and Daisy (Martin) Hill.

Janet married Thomas E. Edwards Sr. on June 8, 1963, in Aurora. She was baptized on July 5, 1975 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Janet is survived by her husband; sons, Thomas (Stephanie) Edwards Jr. and William (Roberta Sue) Edwards; daughter, Ginger Voorhis; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Cindy, Daniel, Nicholas, Michael Jr., Justin, Tina, Crystal and Bobby Jo; 11.5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne and Cecil; and sisters, Bernice and Eileen.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael E. Edwards Sr.; and brothers, Whitey and Glen.

Janet loved to crochet and solve puzzle books, and she was an avid reader of Nancy Drew books. Janet loved balloons and she gave one to any child that visited her home.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2602 W. Bloomington Road, Champaign.

A second celebration of Janet's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, time TBA, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1301 Bailey Lane, Benton.

Cremation rites have been allotted through Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign.

Memorial donations may be made in Janet's name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Champaign.
