Mildred (Jordan) Green McCoy

Mildred (Jordan) Green McCoy, a resident of Plainville for more than 45 years, passed away in South Hill, Va. on Jan. 15, 2017, at VCU-CMH Hospital, South Hill, Va.

Mildred was the daughter of the late Herbert and the late Anna (Rowe) Jordan. She was a graduate and valedictorian of East Suffolk High School and attended Norfolk State University.

Mildred moved to Connecticut in the 1950s and worked for many years as an employee of the Newington Veterans Hospital in Newington until retirement and then The John Boyle Co. of New Britain part time for many years. She became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Connecticut on July 28, 1958. Mildred suffered a stroke on Feb. 11, 2016, while spending a joyful time with her son, Wayne, and family. In July she moved to convalesce with her daughter and son-in-law.

Mildred leaves to mourn her passing her devoted loving family, her son, Wayne Green (Lisa Nkonoki), of Farmington; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” (Timothy) Robinson of LaCrosse, Va.; eight grandchildren, Jacyn Green, Brittany C. Toscano-Gore (Albert III), Gregory Davis, Shantaya Davis, Kourtney Fisher, Shioban Gordon (Corey), Randi Moore and Davon Robinson; fifteen great-grandchildren: Jadyn Green, Micayla Green, Jordyn Green, Jaclyn Green, Kaevion Green, Jazmyn Rose Green, Kameron Garcia, Kaleigha Agosto, Kaiden Agosto, Corey Gordon Jr., Caleb Gordon, Alexis Baskerville, J’Antre King, Tae’sean Meredith and Mia Davis; her two sisters, Bertha Russ of Manassas, Va. and Olivia (Ronnie) Jackson of Dale City, Va.; three brothers, Roosevelt (Bernice) Jordan of Clinton, Md., Carlston (Denise) Jordan of New Britain, and Ronald (Connie) Jordan of Suffolk, Va.; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Battle of New Britain and Florence Williams of Florence, S.C.; two brother-in-laws, James (Elizabeth) McCoy of Plainville and John D. Roberts of Florence, S.C.

She also leaves a beloved aunt, Ruth Hollomon, special relatives, Alice Lawson and niece, Paulette Watson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her passing.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, McKeaver McCoy, in June 2012; a grandson, Wayne Gioia; her siblings, Elouise Jordan, Jessa Mae Vann, Joseph Jordan, Leanna Ricks, James Jordan and Carolyn Sharpe.

Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. A memorial service for Mildred will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 234 Farmington Ave., Berlin, CT with Brother Ron Nance, Minister, officiating.
