Oct. 3, 1938 – Jan. 25, 2017

GRESHAM, Ore. – Patricia Nadine Philebar passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2017, at her foster care home in Gresham, Ore., with her loving sister and brother-in-law at her side.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1938, in Salinas, Calif. She is the beloved mother of Tim Philebar of Henderson, Nev., and Brian Vern Philebar (deceased). Her parents Vern and Dorothy Guthrie also preceded her in death.

She is also survived by her sister, Gail Miller, and Gail’s husband Cecil. They reside in Gresham.

As a child, Mrs. Philebar lived in California, Mound City, Mo., and Torrington. She received her education in Mound City and Torrington, graduating from Torrington High School in 1958, where she received many honors and was liked by all who knew her.

She married Denny Philebar in June 1963, at the Methodist Church in Torrington. They were divorced in 1979. Mrs. Philebar then moved to Oregon where she lived in Forest Grove and Gresham. She was residing in Gresham at the time of her death.

Mrs. Philebar worked for Bell Telephone Co. in Scottsbluff, Neb., and US Bank in Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Philebar became a member of the Jehovah’s Witness church in 1989. She loved her Witness Faith and enjoyed sharing it with her Witness brothers, sisters, and others. They were a wonderful support during her life and at life’s end.

She had a genuine love for the beauty of nature. She also loved being with people experiencing kindness, joy, and happiness. The day-to-day simple things of life being shared with others provided much contentment and peace.

Over the years, she enjoyed many hours of reading and knitting.

Mrs. Philebar didn’t long for the things that she did not have but was always thankful for those things that enriched her life – her faith, family, and friends. She will be missed and forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25th, 2017, at 12 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, with a Memorial Service following at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 5127 SE Salquist Rd. in Gresham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Philebar’s memory can be made to Housecall Providers Hospice, 5100 SW Macadam Ave #200, Portland, OR 97239.
