Fern Marvin, 93, of Vermillion, SD passed away on February 9, 2017 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls SD.

Fern Marie Marvin was born in Wagner SD to Charles H. and Marie A. (Timm) Ahrens.

Fern attended college at Springfield SD was a school teacher for several years.

Fern married Merlin S. Marvin January 16, 1946 in Wagner, SD. They farmed near Wagner until 1960 and after several moves, they settled in Vermillion in 1965.

Fern was employed by Electro-Magic until 1976 and after two years in Oregon, she returned to Vermillion. Fern was widely known in the area for her love for God, her family and for zealously sharing her faith and Bible based hope with others.

She is survived by five children and many grandchildren. Jean Schlecta, with children Tony, Douglas and Rita, Irene SD; Joyce and Rick Schmidt with children Michael and Devin, Sheridan, WY; Don and Cathy with children Lance, Jennifer, Benjamin, Kimberly, Cassandra and Wesley, Kennewick WA; David, Yankton; James and Janice, Reno NV.

Memorial services will be March 5, 2017 at the Vermillion Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 609 Kennedy St. at 2:00 p.m. HansenFuneralHome.com.
