Mildred Medicraft

In accord with her expressed wish, there will be no services for Mildred "Mickey" Irene Medicraft, who passed away on Feb. 9, 2017. Mildred was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Holtville, Calif. to Earl and Keva Goree, both of whom preceded her in death.

Mickey spent her formative years with her parents and five siblings in Grants Pass, Ore. She had many fond memories of her youth. One memory she liked to reminisce about was hosting dances in her family home. They would push back the living room furniture, her father would play the accordion, and the young folks of her congregation would dance.

Mickey was married on Feb. 2, 1957, to Rodney Medicraft. They had two children, Richard (Kathy) who lives in Belle Fourche, S.D., and Elene, who lives in Loveland, Colo. Rodney and Mickey moved to Roswell, N.M. in 1997.

Mickey was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses July 31, 1946, and faithfully served as such until her death, devoting many years to the full-time ministry.

In addition to her ministry, she enjoyed gardening, with a fondness for roses. She was a skilled seamstress who furnished clothing not only for her family, but also for several elite North Dakota state officials. Of Mickey, it was said, “Others are common, Mickey is a woman of class.” She wore that compliment with quiet, and modest dignity.

She is survived by Rodney, her husband of 60 years; their two children, Richard and Elene; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
