Jim Walker of Temple died Monday March 6th. He was born May 28, 1937 to James M and Gertrude Anne Walker. Jim was born and raised in Temple, and after a few years in Houston, returned in 1974 to stay .

He was preceded in death by his parents, a toddler sister Lugene, a sister Mary Catherine Walker of Temple and a brother Carl Hayes Walker of Dallas TX. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dortha Lee Taylor Walker,  his daughter Kelli Williams and her husband Michael of Copperas Cove TX, his son Craig Walker and his wife Teresa of Austin TX,  his daughter Karen Talley and her husband Steven of Kyle TX,  his sister Rachel Ann Walker Spradlin of Salado TX, and several nieces and nephews and their children.

Jim was a special agent with the US Treasury Department, an agent with New York Life and then Farmers Insurance, a teacher at Ralph Wilson Boys and Girls Club, and lastly a substitute teacher with the Killeen and Temple school districts.

He so enjoyed working with children and sharing with them his love of science. He made many science devices that he showed in classrooms, science fairs, the Bell County Museum and the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum.

In 1975 he dedicated himself to his Heavenly Father and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served as an elder in the local congregation for several years and dearly loved his spiritual family.

Jim enjoyed sharing his faith with others and continued to do so into his last few days. He was also eager to share his views on a proper diet with anyone willing to listen and even sometimes with those who were not.  He sought and looked forward to a world without any racial barriers.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 18th at 3pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2718 Skyline Dr, Temple TX.
