GROVELAND – Groundskeepers mowing the lawn at a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness found themselves in a desperate fight Friday with two men determined to steal their mower, police say.

According to an arrest report, Edward Stiles was cutting grass at the hall at the corner of Bluegrass and Roxbury in Groveland when two men puled up in a pickup truck, put a push mower in the back of their truck and started to drive off. Stiles ran after the truck and pulled the mower out of the back.

The men returned a short time later and grabbed the mower again, and when Stiles confronted them, they started to punch him, police say. Stiles’ co-worker, Willie Wakefield, ran up to help and the men started beating him, too. Wakefield’s son, Jayleon, came to their aid and fought off the men, who ran off without their truck and cell phones.

Police found one of the men, identified as Christian Castillo, 17, walking nearby and arrested him. Castillo was charged with strong armed robbery and battery.

Police said Stiles suffered a bloody gash behind his ear and red marks on his face from being punched. Willie Wakefield also had redness and swelling on his face.

To be courageous, half of EVERYTHING is just "being there"

The brother that took a beating and scooped up their cell phone and truck keys did his part, and he was a pacifist, and did not strike back at all.

But he did run TOWARD trouble, to help.

The only thing necessary for evil to prevail, is good men to stand by, and do nothing.

In the world, it's called "... taking one (a beating or some other awful thing) for the team".
