MINEOLA - Memorial services for Clydia Brooks Steenson, 94, Mineola will be held Saturday, July 15 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Jim Nahas officiating.

Mrs. Steenson died June 18, 2017, at Autumn Wind Assisted Living Center in Mineola. She was born January 9, 1923, near Sonora, Arkansas to the late Thomas and Apella Brooks and grew up in Plano.

During WWII, Clydia served in the Army Nurse Corps in the Philippines and Okinawa. After returning home she began working with the Dallas ISD as a school nurse and was soon transferred to administration, directing the nursing staff until retiring 20 years later.

Once retired she dedicated her life to Jehovah, and remained faithful until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Turner Steenson; two brothers, Thomas and Kenneth Brooks; two sisters, Ruth Brooks Scott and Dorotha Brooks Stults.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Brooks Harris; two stepchildren, Scott Steenson and Jan Calevell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
