On Sunday, Japan and representatives from 80 countries and international unions commemorated the 72nd anniversary of the US dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Over 50,000 people attended in the city’s Memorial Peace Park.
The city marked the anniversary of the August 6, 1945 attack that killed 140,000 people with a somber ceremony, a minute of silence to remember the dead, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo AbeÂ’s call to eliminate nuclear weapons.
