Colleen Jane Veits

HIDE CAPTION

Colleen Jane Veits

Posted Aug 8, 2017 at 12:01 AMUpdated at 12:23 PM

Colleen Jane Veits died peacefully in the early hours of August 4th, 2017, at her home in Braceville, surrounded by those she loved. Her strong moral compass and her faith in Jehovah God set an example for those around her. She was true to herself and her beliefs throughout her life and long, painful struggle with declining health and cancer. Despite the physical pain she endured for many years, she maintained a cheerful spirit, a fantastic sense of humor and her signature quick wit never dimmed. As a compassionate mother and friend, she was more interested in listening to others express their troubles, than complaining of her own. Among her many enviable traits, she was intelligent and honest, sincere and empathetic, generous and kind, hard-working and trustworthy, and above all, faithful to her God, family and friends. Her family is proud of the strength and integrity she maintained until the very end.

Colleen was born August 1, 1955, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Rodney Amzi and Dorothy M. Ziegler (nee. Kolacz). Colleen married Douglas Michael Veits on May 31, 1974. Colleen and Doug were blessed with 43 years of marriage. Together they ran Hearth & Home Fireplace Shoppe in Garrettsville until 2013.

Colleen was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Newton Falls. She enjoyed spending time at the beach in Mexico, sewing, playing with her grandpuppy Bender, building birdhouses, and making jewelry.

Loving memories of Colleen will be carried on by her husband Douglas Michael Veits of Braceville, son and daughter-in-law David and Alisha Veits of Akron, sister Mary Goodwill of Braceville, brother and sister-in-law Kent and Pam Ziegler of Newton Falls, and brother James Ziegler of Braceville.

Per Colleen’s wishes, she has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 300 Bandorr Road, Newton Falls, on Saturday, August 12th at 5 pm.

Arrangements have been entrusted to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH 44444 (330)872-5440. Family & friends may view Colleen’s obituary online and to send condolences to her family, please visit www.jamesfuneralhomeinc.com.
