Melba Gossett

Richmond, Indiana - Melba Gossett, age 91, of Richmond, fell asleep in death after a long illness on September 17, 2017 with family at her side.

She was born August 6, 1926 in Dugger, Indiana to Joe and Dorothy Jennings.

She is survived by her son, Michael Smith (Fayealice); two daughters, Jan Stephens (Bob) and Elaine Gossett and son-in-law  Theron Specht.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Michelle Zelner, Judson and Jessica Stephens, Eric and Grant Specht; two great grandchildren, Chad and Carson Zelner.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of seven years, William E. Smith, by her second husband of 42 years, Gerald Gossett, and by her loving daughter, Maurene Specht, as well as three brothers,  John, Herman and Bobby Joe Jennings

Melba was a devoted mother and grandmother and was an ardent student of the Bible as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday (September 19, 2017) at the Mansion on Main Street (1307 East Main Street, Richmond) followed by a brief Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m.  with Richard Buchanan officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses or to jw.org.  Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
