William Henry

William Henry (Boots) Hairston, 88, passed away at his home in Martinsville on Sunday, September 24, 2017. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Henry County to the late Joseph and Janet Lampkin Hairston.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hairston was preceded in death by four sisters, Vivian Dierdan, Martha Spencer, Marie Millner and Evelyn Fisher; and two brothers, Joe Lewis and Jimmy Hairston.

Mr. Hairston proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mr. Hairston is survived by his wife of 36 years, Juanita Zeigler Hairston; daughter, Vanessa Brazelton (Tony); son, Anson Hairston (Janelle); step-daughters, Paris Cockerham (Cleve), Gwendolyn Robinson (Curtis), Deborah Stocks (Reggie), Donna Cline (Terry), Denise Petty (Dwayne); step-sons, Stan Hill (Marie) and Norris Dean Hill. Also sisters, Valerie Petty, Lola Monroe (Lucious), Mattie Gallaway (Orlando), and Powell Cozart; brother, Colonel Hairston (Nancy); 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 5 p.m. at the Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be private.
