The Origins of Halloween — What Does the Bible Say About Them?

The Bible’s answer :

The Bible does not mention Halloween. However, both the ancient origins of Halloween and its modern customs show it to be a celebration based on false beliefs about the dead and invisible spirits, or demons.—See  “Halloween history and customs.”

The Bible warns: “There must never be anyone among you who . . . consults ghosts or spirits, or calls up the dead.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, The Jerusalem Bible) While some view Halloween as harmless fun, the Bible indicates that the practices associated with it are not. At 1 Corinthians 10:20, 21, the Bible says: “I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too.”—New International Version.

WOULD  A  CHRISTIAN  PARTICIPATE   IN  HALLOWEEN?   ( still  less  days..)

Known for its witches, goblins, and other grotesque decorations and paraphernalia, HALLOWEEN.....Also called All Hallows' Eve or the eve of All Saints' Day..... can be traced back to the ancient Celts of Britain and Ireland. On the full moon nearest November 1, they celebrated the festival of Samhain, meaning "Summer's End." They believed that during Samhain, the veil between the human and the supernatural worlds was parted and that spirits, both good and evil, roamed the earth. The souls of the dead were thought to return to their homes, and families would put out food and drink for their ghostly visitors in hopes of appeasing them. Thus, when children today, dressed as ghosts or witches, go from house to house threatening a mischievous trick unless they receive, they unwittingly perpetuate the rituals of Samhain.

So, the answer is a resounding NO....  No Christian walking in the footsteps of Christ Jesus would even consider such a celebration.   Doing so pleases Satan the Devil and displeases Jehovah God, and his Son, Christ Jesus.

For more information and a thorough discussion of "Celebrations and Religious Holidays that displease God"....      See  "Keep yourself in God's Love"   published  by  Jehovah's  Witnesses.

Healthy  pumpkin  recipes.....    Enjoy ! :)

It's a shame that pumpkin is only popular for two months out of the year. The low-calorie squash is rich in potassium and vitamin A, and loaded with beta-carotene (a powerful antioxidant). Plus, its natural sweetness brings subtle flavor to baked goods without any added guilt. The good news: many of our favorite pumpkin recipes call for canned pumpkin, so you can enjoy these delicious, nutrient-packed fall comfort food dishes year-round. From pumpkin chili to pumpkin muffins to a spicy pumpkin hummus, here are the best healthy pumpkin recipes.

d ! :D

A day for demonic traditions. Hollowed pumpkins carved into heads with candles inside called Jack-O-lanterns. This celebration has it's origins in the Catholic church as an observance in honour of the saints. (All Saints Day. Daily Dispatch Newspaper October 30th 2003.)

What good can come from people wearing witch costumes and demon masks who terrorise people with their "Trick or Treat" threats. (Heb. 13:15, 16)

Yes, you are right Brother @Colin Browne ... We can read that all by my JW.ORG  link.  But the pumpkin we got from Jehovah and many people around the world like the taste of Pumpkins. In the Internet you can find many many different recipes !  Do you have Pumpkins in South Africa ? :)

    • By the way, if you're into stuff like this, you might wanna check out https://thepythagoras.com/. They have some neat articles about ancient civilizations and their contributions to science and math. It’s really interesting how much we owe to these early thinkers.
    • The Dendera Zodiac is such an amazing piece of history. Imagine ancient Egyptians looking up at the same stars we do now and creating this detailed map. It's mind-blowing! So, what do I think about it? I think it's a fascinating blend of art and astronomy. Those ancient folks really knew their stuff. The way they incorporated their gods and mythologies into the constellations is just brilliant. And it's not just about the stars, it’s a glimpse into how they viewed the universe and their place in it.

Algorand will serve as the official blockchain platform for FIFA, supporting events such as the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023 and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022. This partnership is poised to enhance FIFA's digital asset management while boosting Algorand's visibility through advertising and promotional opportunities. On another note, I've been tuning into African football recently. The match between Kanifing East FC and Latrikunda United was unexpectedly impressive. African football often goes underappreciated, yet the skill and enthusiasm in these matches are evident. We can expect even more significant development and excitement in African football with increased attention and support.
