WHAT CAUSED JESUS TO RELATE THE PARABLE OF THE RICH MAN AND THE BEGGAR LAZARUS? 


The account of the rich man and Lazarus is the only Bible passage associating the word 'HELL' (=HADES =SHEOL) with a place of fiery torment after death.
The rest of the Holy Scriptures describe HELL as the common grave of mankind, in which the dead are unconscious, as if asleep, but from which they will be resurrected to the 'real life' at a time yet to come.
Does the Bible contradict itself? What do the Scriptures really say?
Does this parable actually support unscriptural teachings such as the existance of Hereafter, immortal soul and hellfire after death? Or is it just an illustration of something else?
