Barbara Susan “Susie” Kerns, 75, of Romney, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland. 

Born on March 16, 1942, in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Harley T. and Bertie “Floe” Hartman Everett. 

Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. Everett; and the father of her children, Charles B. Ricewick.

Susie was born and raised in Springfield. She attended the Springfield Assembly of God and then Poland Hollow Assembly of God. She and Harry were married on June 21, 2002. In later years, they moved to Romney where she was an associate with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Jersey Mountain Rd. Susie enjoyed music and played the piano in church. She loved to sing and it didn't matter if she was alone or in a group. Susie was an excellent cook and will surely be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Harry H. Kerns; her children, Allen B. Ricewick and wife Alice of Severn, Md. and Trina Ricewick Wimer and husband Gary of Petersburg; a brother, Robert E. “Skeets” Everett and wife Barbara of Springfield; a sister, Willa M. Livingood of Romney; 6 grandchildren, Katie, Sean, Ashlyn, Jacob, Marissa, and Gunner; 3 great-grandchildren, Blake, Addison, and Savannah; a special niece, Sandy Hines; special friends, Wanda Kidwell, Jeff Landis, and Lydia Dennison; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the funeral home with Brian Kidwell officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Romney.
