Donald Alfred Hanson

Donald Alfred Hanson went to his final deep sleep on Feb. 10, 2018 in Longview, Wash. He was born June 14, 1943 to Irene May Hanson and Walter Alfred Hanson of Fernwood, Idaho. Donald was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, getting baptized in 1971.

Donald met Delores Marie, the love of his life, in 1964 while he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. They were married that year and welcomed the first of five children in 1966. Don loved his children and showed it in his own way individually to them.

He first worked as a carpenter and later as an industrial millwright, ending in his retirement in 2003.

Donald loved classic cars, the outdoors, and creating things. He enjoyed having coffee in the morning with his late wife and his children. He had a dry sense of humor, and kept close to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Delores, his mother and father, and three brothers: Joe Walter Hanson, Bill Charles Hanson and John Robert Hanson. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Pat and Gordon McFee of Alamogordo, N.M., his brother Gary Michael Hanson of Challis, Idaho, and his five children: Daniel Clayton Hanson of Delena, Ore.; Gina Marie Dunn of Westport, Ore.; Tina Marie Bennett of Longview, Wash.; Melanie May Simmons of Delena, Ore.; Jonathan Michael Hanson of Clatskanie, Ore., 12 grandchildren and three great-grand children.

Donald was loved dearly by all of his children and grandchildren and will be missed.

A memorial for Donald will be held at the Kingdom Hall of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses in Rainier, Ore. at 1 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2018. All who knew Donald are invited to attend.
