París cerrará este domingo la torre Eiffel y se blindará con hasta 12.000 policías debido a la multitud que se espera en la capital francesa para seguir la final del Mundial entre Francia y Croacia, anunciaron hoy las autoridades.

"Por razones de seguridad, la Prefectura de Policía ha exigido el cierre de la torre de Eiffel", indicó la empresa que gestiona el monumento.

Las autoridades optaron por pedir su cierre por la multitud que se aguarda en las zonas circundantes para seguir el encuentro en las pantallas gigantes que se desplegarán, una de ellas frente a la misma torre.

Los turistas que adquirieron un boleto para visitarla este domingo -con un coste de entre 16 y 25 euros para un adulto- podrán beneficiarse de un reembolso "en un plazo de dos meses".

Asimismo, el responsable policial de París, Michel Delpuech, anunció hoy que la capital y su región contarán con un refuerzo especial de 12.000 policías y 3.000 efectivos de primeros auxiliospara la final del Mundial del domingo.

Estas fuerzas también servirán para reforzar la seguridad el sábado, cuando se celebrará la fiesta nacional francesa.

Francia jugará su tercera final del Mundial en 20 años y buscará su segundo título, tras el conseguido en 1998, en la edición en la que fue anfitrión. Los dirigidos por Didier Deschamps viene de vencer 1 a 0 a Bélgica en la semifinal e irá por un triunfo ante Croacia, que superó a Inglaterra por 2 a 1 en tiempo suplementario.
